Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.

Laughed when the guy with glasses argued there were more American left-wing propaganda movies and used All The Presidents Men as an example, the only problem with that of course is that movie was based on an actual real scandal Nixon and Watergate and the real people who revealed the scandal to the American people Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein which led to Nixon's impeachment. Movies like Olympus Has Fallen on the other hand are shockingly laughable with plots that are so far fetched only an idiot could take it seriously so its hidden behind flag waving faux patriotism of the worst kind.

I like Richard Osmond when he isn't talking about politics. He tends to have really milquetoast, middle-of-the-road opinions about everything. Frankie: "The American entertainment industry is one of the biggest exporters of propaganda in the world." Richard: "They make good movies tho!" bring back jupp!
@swguygardner
@swguygardner Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I hate when Richard is on shows like that, because his political views seem very... dismissive? Like, every issue isn't a big deal, people are just making a fuss over nothing, it's all been done before, any threat is probably not that bad, just calm down and enjoy the movies and iPhones and stuff. It all feels like it comes from someone who's never actually experienced any of the world's problems, and just assumes everyone else is just exaggerating? He seems to be that sort of passive conservative type that things that the way things are is perfect, and there's no need to rock the boat.

I'm amazed that the comments are all surprised that Frankie is left-wing. He writes a column for the Guardian for fucks sake. The guests all made extremely good points as well. These right-wing comments on here are quite pathetic compared to the points raised in the show, and will only drive people further left so keep it up.

I wonder how the US public would react to an alternative 'American Guns' show where all the cast were Black or Hispanic, and delighted in thinking up new ways to make explosions on everyday items? Just a thought.
@dontpanic1812
@dontpanic1812 4 жыл бұрын
It would be a great experiment in programming to find out. I think similar low viewership would make the results moot, but it would be great just to see everyone explode in fear for a while a question why they feel that way. If the controversy drove up viewership, then we could have comparisons to the "white" show and discussions of fundamental racism within ourselves and if viewership continued to hold, advertisers would flock to the show, keeping the needed discussion and controversy open in a self-fulfilling cycle to the benefit of everyone-- haters, admirers, the public in general, producers. I know you weren't suggesting this should be something real, but it's a very interesting idea that could work to drive home our shared inner biases, though I don't think anyone would be willing to create such a potentially successful vehicle even if audiences wanted it. Ideally, it would be exactly like the original show with no amount of commentary and a team of producers willing to engage in the experiment just for the principles you've outlined, coasting to success on its inherent conflicts. It would be so fun to see something like that, but I doubt anyone's either tone-deaf or brave enough to try it, even in this copycat world we live in. If the idea is continually suggested, though, some exec with an eye for profit and an appreciation for the driving forces underlying the show might jump at it. We can only cross our fingers. Whether it's something that gets made or not, it's still a great thought and one that's potentially worth easy millions for the network that pursues it.

I get this is a show and not stand up but also a lot of shows he's in do clipshows that were cut because his comments were too bad for TV, like mock the week, and if what he says is too bad then surely it can't be written, you know what I mean?

@brettb9194
@brettb9194 4 жыл бұрын
there is really little difference between Clinton Corp and Trump Inc there is no way both wives don't know what their hubbies are like but they're dealing with it (even encouraging it?) because it furthers their own goals - which are the same: wealth and power. the issue of nepotism (spouses, children) following their parents into politics because they know the system, they know who's got the network of underage girls, foreign workers, mob connections and just plain old gobs of money - and they're perfectly okay to surf those waves of sbit as long as none of it splashes on them. Katherine Ryan is smart and funny (and not her original self if the black lady had looked a little closer before her rant on plastic surgery - or maybe she just didn't care) but strays into misandry at times. Sarah Pascoe is just as smart and funny and I would say cuts even deeper into feminist territory without straying into misandry. taking all that into account how much more cringe-worthy is the scene with Mary J Blige singing to the scheming old Clinton hag? the deaths in Libya alone are enough to set Hillary up on war crime charges, never mind the sweatshop in Haiti and the long queue of bankers and arms buyers who contributed to her and Bill's foundation in exchange for updated weapons and sanitized regulatory records... it is sad the American people were offered Donald Trump as the alternative but they knew - or at least sensed - enough about the Clintons that it was going to give the Republican candidate (my favourite was Kasich, oh well) a fighting chance. Trump has been scheming and running from the law in one form or another all his life - from bankruptcy to tax evasion, libel to divorce court it's what he knows: exposés and a hostile press are his bread and butter, on the principle that there ain't no such thing as bad publicity. and while I am ranting one more thing: If the establishment candidate wins (at this point it is Joe Biden) the DNC nomination Trump will win 2020 excepting only if his health fails. Joe "Sniffy" Biden knows where all the skeletons are - but that means he has kept quiet about them for decades: even if the strange reports about him aren't instigator behaviour (as I believe they are) he has helped keep the infidelities and drug habits and schemes of many a scheme - it's why they all go bad when they get to Washington. Representatives, Senators and Presidents have three choices: quit, keep quiet or join right in.

This was brilliant, all woman panel, talking true sense, Frankie getting his points across then Richard "Blue Peter" Osman turns up and the women are shut off like a tap. He actually defends the American position in Olympus Has Fallen! Osman is the BBC's Trump.

Loved this... Then I went to read the comments... as you do when you're bored. That and I wanted to see what people were saying ("leftist bollocks"). I got what I wanted... People don't get satire, do they? It's so sad. Satire is my favourite form of comedy. Then again, what this show is doing is exposing those people who take this seriously. I guess that's a good thing.
