Yea like Henry realizing that his two best friends are remorseless killers who could eat a Hardy meal after beating a man to death they knew for years prior, when you put it in perspective and take away street code or man code bullshit, it makes no other sense than to rats these psychopaths out, but Hill in real life was nowhere near the level of cool Ray Liotta portrayed him as, here's a fun fact, the real Pauly fucks Karen Hill they have an affair, and then the real Tommy hears about it and then gose to try and rape Karen, with friends like that how could ya rat on a them.

Damn son, I didn't even realize that was Scorsese's mom or even that all of her parts were improvised. I would love to see a supercut of all her film parts and all of the alternate takes for them. I did wonder just how this elderly woman was able to tie some of these scenes together with Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta in a way that feels entirely organic. I guess she was just being exactly like her authentic self and there was really no acting even happening. What an incredible legacy.

She really adds a lot to the movie imo. Them sitting for a meal with her with Billy in the trunk is absolutely shocking the first time you see it. It’s the amount the last things you expect to happen at that moment and there’s something about it that really shows the dissonance of the life they live. Her authenticity creates a texture to the world in the film as well. There’s no other scene that is as warm and wholesome in the movie and the juxtaposition is really phenomenal film making.

They left out the best line in the whole scene! It’s right after they cut it here! She reminds me of every Italian friend’s Mother in North Jersey. I love her.

A great director brings out the greatness in his actors. Or he is smart enough to stay the hell out of the way and catch the magic as it happens.

That's wholesome. Also the scene where tommy borrows the knife, such a weird contrast from the moms little world in her house to what those guys are all actually doing

The real genius of this scene is that you are left asking yourself 'How well does this mother know her son?'. Does this sweet woman have any idea that she's cooking for a bunch of stone killers? Disturbing. I had a grandmother just like Mama Scorsese, the kindest, gentlest person I ever met.
