I am not Scottish ir Irish but i can inderstand most of this great video! Funny that at the end he says something like(do not forget i am not a native speaker!)´or even mere butter¨ Mere is the same as in Dutch but spelled diffrently(meer).

This brings back memories of sitting in my Great Granny's kitchen on a rainy Sunday morning, drowning this delicacy in even more butter and some blackcurrant jam before running off to Cullen Beach.. The good auld days lads!

@@harrysmith846 yes I believe Donald's still own the bakery, their daughter Pamela went to school with my sister ..my sister lives in Lossiemouth I've been living in England for nearly 50yr now, I've been looking at loads of pics of the Peaky blinders at Portsoy and the filming is finished now...can't wait to see the next episode as watched all of it ...its brilliant and I love Cillian Murphy lol 😆

Butteries, Scottish food of the gods. Warmed in my aunt's coal fired black range oven in Johnshaven circa 1957 then out with dad to "cleet" for lobster if the tide was out. Happy days.

No. Most NE Scotland bakeries don’t use it now thankfully. It’s butter and vegetable oil all the way.

There’s an Aitkens Bakery in Holburn Street, Aberdeen, not long gone. JG Ross’ are good and they don’t use ghastly lard. Heated in the toaster, delicious.
