You have to understand that Scotland still relies on English media for almost all of it's football coverage outside of Scotland. Can you imagine how irritating it would be having to watch every game listening to another nations football pundits constantly bumming up their own game while dismissing the quality of yours. Sure, there are questions marks about them and are on a poor run in recent tournaments, but they are at home, have a good manager and some brilliant players: Gundogan, Kroos, Kimmich, Musiela, Sane, Havertz, Wirtz and other Leverkusen players coming off the back of an unbeaten domestic season, and Dortmund players getting to the CL final.

Well, a mix of deeper lying and more forward players. Probably where they are strongest. Kimmich is likely at RB in a defence with Neuer, Rüdiger, Tah. Fullkrug is no Gerd Müller but then again not many teams have a top quality ‘traditional striker’ these days

Being honest, mate, i really don't think the Scottish lads were up for it. They wanted to be. England were far better that night, there's no question of it, they destroyed us, even though Maguire did his best to keep us in it, but That wasn't the Scotland we'd watched in qualifying games. There was a definite lethargy about them. By the way, that's taking nothing away from England, they were up for it, and it showed, and they played as well as i've seen England play in 45 years of watching football.

Not necessarily. Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, probably Germany...and the list probably goes on. But they would all see England as the one team they love to beat. The English can only have one main rival. Plus the fact that English fans are largely oblivious to the historical reasons behind these rivalries. They genuinely don't understand why Scotland/Ireland etc don't support them. Generally speaking, it's not necessarily a sporting rivalry, although people generally hate the English arrogance. They just can't help getting carried away with themselves. And then you have the inevitable scapegoating that comes after a tournament in the English media.
