As a maintenance tech. in hospital, we just replaced all of our Ice machines with the Scotsman and all the nurses stations throughout the building. I had prayed and hoped that I could find something on KZbin on how to clean these ice machines thoroughly. The last ice machines we had were not self cleaning. they were all manual labor. I noticed on the Scotsman on this control panel that it said cleaning mode or time to clean. Your video was very easy to understand that by step. Thank you for your time, energy and effort and making this video it helped tremendously.

I really happy you found it helpful! I’ll post more videos in the future as I come across different issues. I may re-record this cleaning video.

Excellent, thanks for making this video. This is our exact machine. About twice a year, it gets black particles in the ice. Now I know what to do for sure. Here I go, doing it right now.

Hello, thanks for the video. I have a question, how would the drip pan (Gray plastic) be removed. Is it bolted on? thank you...........................
@IceMachine41114 күн бұрын
The panel that has the ice/water sensors needs to be removed. Then the drip tray will slide forward and off.

Excellent video, thank you!!! I have the same machine and started coming harvest, black ice with metal shavings. Water from water dispenser clear Let me know what is the problem. Thank you!!!!

In my best John Tapper voice “shut it down!!” . You’re bearings are no good and the augur is rubbing against the evaporator. The machine is essentially ruined. Depending on the age of the machine you might be under warranty. I’d call Scotsman tech support and figure out the best way forward.

Hello, about how many cycles do you dump the ice out to get rid of the funny taste? after the cleaning and sanitizing cleaning?????
@IceMachine4119 күн бұрын
After cleaning I’ll usually dump the first 15-20 minutes of ice production.

Thank you so much for this video we just installed a bunch of these at some accounts and I'm responsible for performing PMs and I didn't have the first clue where to start. The link for the sanitizer doesn't seem to work anymore. Any recommendations on what to use to sanitize?

I looked at one yesterday the evaporator was frozen up making a grinding noise. Haven't got back to yet. think its low on charge?
@IceMachine4112 ай бұрын
It’s possible but that’s one of the last things I’d check. Grinding usually means the augur is touching the evaporator.

How long does it take you to usually do one of these units? Also what’s you thought on this Scotsman machine vrs a manitowoc in same style ice?
@IceMachine4117 ай бұрын
Start to finish maybe 1 to 2 hours. In general I really like Manitowoc but I don’t like their nugget machines. Manitowoc CNF machines are second class compared to Scotsman HID machines.

How often should these ice machines be cleaned on a PM schedule?
@IceMachine4114 ай бұрын
Manufacture recommends every six months. More often if needed.

Curious to how you charge $… by the hour? Per machine? Type of machine?
@IceMachine4117 ай бұрын
Most jobs are hourly with a NTE dollar amount.

You missed the exploded top bearing that all these new model HID's have! Lol. We had an Amazon facility that had 8 of these machines and we ended up rebuilding 5 under warranty.
@IceMachine4117 ай бұрын
Oh ya those top bearings are known to fail. Rebuilt a couple myself. 5 out of 8 is pretty bad… glad the manufacturer covered the cost though.

I absolutely love that kind of ice. But I would absolutely not like to have that machine in the way all that has to come apart to clean. I’ll keep my old is Scotsman prodigy
@IceMachine4117 ай бұрын
Oh ya! The prodigy is a solid machine. The HID machines seem complicated but they’re pretty easy to work on after a while.

Thanks for letting me know. I’ve been trying to figure out how to make these darn thumbnails. I know they’ve gotten better but I’m still learning. It’s harder than I thought it would be.
