Is asking the wealthy to pay their fair share really asking to much?
@cagleholdings77110 күн бұрын
"Pay their fair share" is such a tired slogan and not even a good talking point. What does that catchphrase even mean considering the fact that the top 1% of earners pay about 40% of ALL federal income taxes? Their share of income is around 22%, meaning they pay a disproportionately large share of taxes relative to their income. The Top 10% of earners pay around 71% of all federal income taxes. The bottom 50% of earners pay less than 5% of federal income taxes. The claim that the highest earners don't pay taxes or "their fair share" is not based in reality and is just a rhetorical shortcut used by the left to avoid discussing the facts or the actual issues.
@gotya200610 күн бұрын

The United States is a low-tax country Compared with other nations in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the United States ranks 32nd out of 38 in revenue as a percentage of GDP.20 But it’s not just that the United States is near the bottom end of revenue; it is nowhere close even to the average. Over the CBO’s 10-year budget window, the United States will collect $26 trillion less in revenues than it would if its revenue as a percentage of GDP were as high as the average OECD nation. When compared to EU nations, that number rises to $36 trillion. (see Figure 2) In contrast, the $289 billion projected revenue increase in the Inflation Reduction Act21 still leaves the United States ranking 32nd out of 38 OECD countries

But the composition of the top 1% as a statistical category also changes with time. In fact someone from the middle class is also permitted to earn their upward promotion and belong to this category. I think we can benefit more if we read Dr. Thomas Sowell’s work on these “top 1%” narratives. These are just statistical fallacies. It’s also not fair to tax someone more simply because they worked hard to get wealthy. They made their sacrifices so we must make our own day-by-day.
