One of the best explanations on purgatory I have heard. My favorite part of the video is the shot of Scott Hahs's worn, tattered, well read and highlited Bible. God Bless him!

my friend is anti Catholic. I am full Catholic. so, one time he told me bad things about the Church. I naively prayed to God and asked Him if my friend is right, to help me open my eyes. eventually, I felt in love with the Catholic faith more. and more than before. I hope My friend gets to know how wonderful the Church is too. I believe. God is great.

Thanks Scott, you've only reinforced my faith in the doctrines of grace and the God who justifies....:) And I'm glad you clarified what you believed as a reformed theologians...it seems you weren't as reformed as you thought yourself to be!!!

@mbaren58. At the Lord's supper Jesus said that His blood will be poured out for the remission of sin. He also said in John 8:23-24 that if we dont believe who He is we WILL DIE in our sins. In Col 1:24 Paul was talking about the suffering he experienced for spreading thegospel & he suffered quit abit. He also said that if Jesus stayed alive abit longer He would have experienced more than just the crucifixion. The suffeings of Jesus lacked nothing in order to purge us from filth & sin.

Jesus' blood sacrifice purifies, sanctifies, forgives, cleanses, we are born again with clean slates, we have no past, we are innocent. this is what He accomplished for us on the cross & in His resurrection. Purgatory does not do any of this, bcuz it doesnt exist, Jesus exists. we could never suffer enough to save ourselves. the fire mentioned in 1 Cor 3:10-16 is not talking about purgatory, it is talking about the judgement of Jesus, He will burn away/forgive our sins when we trust in Him.

@mbaren58. Romans 8:1 says there is no comdemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus. Jesus accomplished purfication for us on the cross & in His resurrection. John 8:23-24 says we will DIE in our sins if we dont believe Who Jesus says He is. The CC says purgatory is a place of suffering, that is why they offer the eucharist(bread&wine) to the Father to shorten their time in purgatory's fire. If purgatory is such a blessing then why does the RCC want those souls out of there?

Please Go watch Marino Restrepo, the man has seen Hell, and very powerfully explains what we need to do, he was like Paul, he is among the few honest men on this planet, he's no great speaker, but he can hook you with the truth, and you will be saved if you listen to Marino, no doubt in my mind.

In 2 Maccabees 12 the people being prayed for were committing Idolatry at the time of their death, as shown by the false god on the medallion they were wearing, and therefore committed a Mortal sin when they died, which you are sent to Hell for, not purgatory.

Sir/Madam, Arent you listening to what is being said on this video? Purgatory is not for the purspose of salvation! I would agree with everything you have written about Christs suffering as it is shown in the bible. What is clearly stated in this video is that Purgatory, whose description is clearly identified in the bible with the passage read by Scott Hahn, is about sanctfication/ Your tradition of Jesus cloaking ALL your sins after Christs justifies you a fiction NOT supported by the Bible.

The Holy Spirit purifies us in the here and now through the believing in Jesus' blood sacrifice. If this place purgatory exists where the HS purges us from sin then why did Jesus die such a horrible blood sacrifice? In John chp 8 Jesus said that if we dont believe who He is we will die in our sins. The book of Roman says we are free of damnation for those who are in Christ, but the unbelievers will be judged for their deeds and they wont stand too much of a change for heaven.

@mbaren58. The final touch in "purifying the silver of its dross" is what Jesus accomplished in His blood sacrifice. Purgatory doesnt so this, bcuz it doesnt exist. Jesus accomplished the complete purifying of sin to its very core. He has purified us to the extreme. We enter heaven bcuz He has purified us. Purgatory is a place of suffering, this is what I was taught by every priest, bishop & nun before I left this horrible church. We could never suffer enough for sin, only Jesus did that.
