Kirk Covington is the most criminally unsung drummer of the 90s. Literally had a jazz fusion style all of his own, sounds like he has 3 arms.

John Bonham would probably think Kirk was the best drummer he ever heard if John was alive today.

@Convisis Жыл бұрын
@@asor8037 I didn’t write ‘underrated’ just to do some KZbin thing. Ask yourself what his exposure was like in drumming magazines during the 90s - almost non-existent. KC is so far from being a well documented and renowned drummer in the general drumming consciousness it’s tragic given how good he is. Happy for you to disagree though.

That's the challenge of this type of music. As amazing as it is, It's not so easy to listen to. Kind of like listening to a lecture by a scientist. But among musicians, especially those into fusion, this is like "calculus". It gets better and better once you're starting to understand a bit of what's going on. You do get that they are quite a bit of mad scientists. They are not "underrated", but just not popular in the mainstream. But musicians generally are aware of these guys.

This clip alone shows this was the best band since Led Zeppelin. Thus earning Tribal Tech the title of being the Led Zeppelin of fusion music. I got Eddie Van Halen to thank (RIP) for having a sticker on a Tribal Tech album CD where Eddie said Scott Henderson was the best guitarist he ever heard. That sticker on the CD sold me into buying that CD and getting into Tribal Tech. I was huge into Larry Carlton and he sadly got out of fusion and started doing boring mainstream mellow jazz, so I was super glad when I discovered Tribal Tech who took Carlton's style & material to a way higher level of fusion music.
