It must feel good to read a review like that, yet have a fan base that actually gets it and votes to hear it 16 years later.

I am born, raised, and currently live in the far north of California. I love "California Songs" because I relate to being tired of the media portrayal of everything LA and NYC like that's all that exists. Plus it's a good song! One of my favorites actually.

Hey brother, my 16 year old asked us to put on your songs tonight, as we were hanging out together. Saw y'all in San Antonio Texas early 2000's (sorry, don't know what year). She hummed the melody, we started singing the words, and then we said "LOCAL H!! BOUND FOR THE FLOOR!!!. ANYWAY! THANKS FOR KEEPING MUSIC ALIVE 🎶 🎵 🙌

New fan here who is still catching up and and getting familiar with the body of work Local H has created. I really dig the vibe and wish I had dug in to hear more of them I dunno around 16-17 years ago when I first heard California Songs.

I love this record. Mitch can bugger off. PJ Soles was the first record I've heard from you guys a couple of years ago, then went on to Lifers (which is an amazing album imo), slowly relistening the rest of the albums but I still have a lot of digging to do. Was a Nirvana kid when I was growing up in the 90s and became a metalhead (still am), only 'discovered' Alice In Chains in the 2000s, I could say I'm ashamed but it's nothing compared to finding you guys this late hahahaha. Thanks for the awesome riffs and vocals Mr Lucas, you are a true inspiration.

I loved that album when it came out even after the first listen. And loved it especially because I kinda had mixed feelings about Here Comes the Zoo tbh. The great songs were great on Zoo but it was the first album from them that had any songs I was kinda iffy on at first listen. WHTPS was straight up badass rock beginning to end imo. One of the finest rock and roll albums of my generation. So glad they are doing this one, was shocked that so many people love this one as much as me. Fans of the H have great taste obviously. Edit- I LOVE Here Comes the Zoo for the record, 5th Ave. Crazy and Rock n' Roll Professionals kinda stuck out to me at first seeming outta place but I've grown to like them and that album contains some of my all-time favorite Local H songs to boot.

A bit late to the party, but I remember back in the day when the Hideout used to get bands together on Tuesdays and have them play one song from one of the other bands. After we got off stage, another band, not you guys, was trash talking us. I started trash talking them back, and you scolded me. I still feel bad about it, but I never trash talked another local band again, so, thanks!

One of my favorite videos is you playing Everyone Alive live. You tell some chick "Don't bother the talent" when she tries to say something, play the Heartbreaker solo, and then rip into the song. Pure rock.

Everyone alive is a song for common folk, obviously not the ilk of the commenter Scott is responding to here. Local H continues to be some of the most real rock around. I saw Mudhoney @ the magic bag a few months ago for the first time; wanted to see them since the late 90’s and it just didn’t happen until maybe two months ago. Amazing show! BUT….there’s something more to local H shows. Just saw them AGAIN @ the Blind Pig in AA, MI, and we were actually able to get pit going for the last few songs. Not the kind of pit with people swing wildly, the kind where you’re shoving everyone around and being shoved around, and it was an amazing time! Not since the days when I saw them @ St Andrew’s in Detroit has that energy been around. (I lived in the mountains for a few years, rumspringer I guess) Saw local H last year @ the pig and whiskey festival show they played for FREE👏😈😱 I would rather see them so many more times over than SO much other music, and legitimately think others are insane for not feeling the same, but, FINE! More for me and the rest of us that LOVE this music! Scott, you played every song a fan could have wanted to hear. I lost it when you guys busted into “helter skelter” Thank you so much for all the work you have continued to create over the years! First show I caught was @ St Andrew’s 9-16-98 with Superjesus

We met way after PJ Soles and I finally put together what you did for job stuff was "12 Amgry Months"! this rant includes Alanis Morisette and cookie Monster and "You Idiot" and...and I am just gonna say this now: after we became friends and I explored your catalog I did tell ya that I love that little ditty on PJ Soles called "California Songs" and somehow...everytime I tell ya I am coming to hear and see you live ...you fuckin POUND that song! ITS AWESOME! and this critique-y guy didnt even mention that it might even actually be something that actually iriitated Randy Newman?! HACK! THIS AGRESSION WILL NOT STAND MAN!

I don't know what's more egregious. The constant use of unnecessary quotations for everything or the constant comparisons to other bands that make no sense. Literally none of his comparisons actually sound like the song in question.
