Steiner as a ring announcer hailing the Dudley Boyz “...from Dunkin Donuts, in the great state of obesity” is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life
@foreverendeavor73833 жыл бұрын
An uncle of mine is handicapped and in a wheelchair, his favorite wrestler is Scott Steiner. We always went to wrestling shows in the area and Steiner was gonna be wrestling so I figured it’d be great to take him as it was a smaller venue and he’d get to see him in a smaller setting. After the match he was cheering and yelling to Scott so Scott came over he then spent literally about a half hour thanking my uncle for being a fan and shooting the shit with him, his smile stayed on his face for about a week after that. He was extremely kind and personable, and due to my uncles cerebral palsy he’s near impossible to understand, Scott still tried his best to listen, decipher and hold a conversation with him and make him feel special. I know there’s a lot of hate for Scott Steiner but I’ll never say an unkind word about the man as I’ve seen what he’s like to his fans when there’s no camera rolling. Scott cares for his fans and that’s more than I could say for a lot of these guys when I’ve met them.

I can totally see it. When I was 12 my friends and I went to a wrestling show. We were a couple hours early to try to see the wrestlers coming in. A van pulled up, it was Rick Steiner and Iceman King Parsons, they asked if we knew where they could get food close by. They got us in the van and we went to Sonic. They were both very good guys, and paid for our food and everything.

Steiner managed to change up his in ring style a bit to compensate and could still pull off all his signature moves flawlessly even into his 50's. Plus he was untouchable on the mic too. I would not have been mad if he got a world title run but he was also humble and thoughtful in putting over the younger talent. It's crazy how some people call Ric Flair the best and call Steiner a disgrace to wrestling while when you look at them at their prime, Steiner always looked better and could beat Ric's ass anytime for real. @Fazal Khan I don’t think he invented the 450 given it originated in japan as the firebird splash. He popularised it in the west tho. My guess is he saw someone perform it when the Steiners were in njpw in the early 90s coincidentally hayabusa was tearing up the Japanese scene around the time and is credited with popularising (not inventing) the move. While hayabusa didn’t compete in njpw it’s not hard to see Scott being in japan around the time this move was one of the biggest moves in Japanese wrestling as more than a coincidence.

The thing that made Steiner so believable was the fact that when you saw him cut a promo, it made you believe he was the exact same way in real life. That's what makes guys like Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens believable in WWE now (though not as much as Steiner was). Another great video Marky. I’ve always been a WWF/E fan and watching your videos makes me realise how much I missed not watching much TNA/IMPACT, I have to agree with you Steiner was one of the best wrestlers to exist, his early career was amazing, he could fly like a lightweight, had the body of a heavyweight and as he got older had the presence of a true legend, you are 100% right if the *cough STARS cough* of today had a quarter of his aura then wrestling would be more popular. I watched another of your videos the other day and you said the referee argued with the wrestler because he was bigger than him, that’s so true nobody would pass the Vince McMahon airport test now, I actually miss the 80s wrestling more than the 90s. Thanks for another top video and keeping people interested in wrestling.
