In this video we break out our brand new Scott Strike e-Ride 930, and mid range electric mountain bike (eMTB) that I use for cross training and fitness workouts.
The Scott is a great all around bike but it is def not top of the line. For an additional $5k, you can def find upgraded models. That being said, this bike is much easier on the budget. Bottom line - it's perfect for casual to moderate enduro mountain biking, trail riding, and moderate climbing. It's not a downhill bike, but we knew that going in.
The Scott essentially has all the functionality of a top end bike, but weaker suspension components (which is almost always where budget vehicles make their price cuts). It has excellent hydraulic brakes, a nice dropper post, a cool handlebar accessible suspension lockout lever, and a very polished look and feel.
In the motor department, the Scott is running the same components of the top end bikes, and makes plenty of torque with decent batter life. I can get about 3 hours out of top power mode, many more if I turn it down.
Regarding e-bikes in general, they are def not a cop-out in any way - watch the video for my thoughts on why these are fantastic options for most riders.

Hmmm.....you certainly make a compelling case for spending $$$$$ on a bicycle. Two factors that dissuade me are (1) $ is so close, why wouldn't I just buy another dirt bike and (2) if I'm spending the time to load up a bike and hitting trails...well it might as well be a dirt bike 😅. Truthfully, I probably will get one as I see it as having fun with the side benefit of exercise, but also I believe it will help with balance/control, reading & reacting quickly to terrain, and most guys I've seen that do both are frickin awesome! Thanks for the vid! BTW - Aside from the e-bike stigma that they are inferior to manual bikes (pls chk ego at the door 😆), I know there is a conflict in the community where "pedalers" don't want e-bikes on the same trail as it poses a risk to them given the speed they can travel at. For example, I recall seeing official signs in Big Bear stating this. Curious which way the wind will blow on this issue...

For fun, I'd pick the dirt bike every time. But, there are niche use cases where the MTB is great. 1 is family as I discuss. 2 is quick trips. I can throw a leg over the MTB and hit the hill behind my house for an hour without the hassle of gearing up on the moto bike (plus they don't like dirt bikes on my hill). 3 it's a great cardio workout that's hard to replicate on the dirt bike. With cycling, you can pick a target heart rate and maintain it for as long as you want. With moto, it's much more a peaking/resting pattern, which is great in some ways, but has limits.

I’ve been looking at the Scott Aspect 940 but cent really find much on the way of reviews. If by chance someone sees this that has one. Please leave a reply with some pros and cons for the aspect 940 ✌🏼

Thanks for the review on the Scott 930, I've been looking at getting one but haven't seen much on these. You mentioned your wife's 930 was a 27.5 were you able to order it with the 27.5 wheels? A local shop has a 910 carbon large for almost 2g more and they told me I couldn't order it with the 27.5 wheels. I agree that the carbon isn't worth spending the money on. I would rather put my own suspension on like fox shocks with kashima coating. I've had a 2020 Giant trance 27.5 M E+ 3 pro. I was talked into getting a Norco vlt fluid A1 29 then they got me large frame. I'm short 5'8" with short legs, the norco L said 711mm stand over which the giant says 740mm but the top tube on the giant is like the Scott. It goes out then up a little way from the seat which seems to help with stand over? The norco goes straight upward from seat tube and I feel pinched between the seat and the tube. I'm sure you have been riding it a bit now are you still happy with it? Good and bad? Thanks again

I still love the bike, the motor is awesome. The suspension needs an upgrade if you're more than an amateur rider though. I did get my wife's with 27.5 wheels, but it was a special set up the shop did for me.

@@ExtremeSportsWannaBes glad to hear you are still liking it also good to know about the motor. The giant had a Yamaha it was a little load but good the norco is a Shimano quieter but also newer. Nice to know some dealers may be willing to do the wheel swap doesn't hurt to ask them. Thanks again

Weight weenies that pay up to $100 a 100 gram to lighten their bikes, not pros, were the early objectors. Those weenies have $12k bikes, spent 30 hours a week training, complained because they hated being passed by an average Joe paying $2k passing them uphill! lol

Oh. I'd be happy to. But to have laughable reviews, claim that $1200, is not a-lot of money is quite pathetic. And you're forgetting ALL the negatives of e-bikes. Battery problems. Limited range. Weight. Expensive replacement parts for a motor. A warranty that typically is void when ya send the motor back. Battery that drains too damn fast & then ya need to recharge or suffer, carrying an extra battery. $5000? Oh, I guess that's pocket change. In this liberal-drivel recession year, I am not spending money on an e-bike. What's shameful, is brands claiming you are environmentally conscious if riding an e-bike. Ha! Havve ya seen the battery landfills in Africa and South America? Yeah, not very environmental.
Here's what it's REALLY like owning an E-Bike
