What a joke. Cop on a huge power trip. Everything i've gathered is that this was completely preventable and for no reason needed to happen. The players were allowed to enter this entrance. He went around a bus onto a median with plenty of room. The cop said to stop, Scottie rolled down his window and told him who he was, the cop proceeds to jump on his car. Scottie stops, the cop proceeds to try and smash in his window with a flash light. He rips him out of the car by his arm and takes him to jail. Charging him with assault and a whole bunch of other non sense. What a JOKE!!!

Scottie was going about 8 mph. Eight! Very slow. He was proceeding to his entrance for a major championship and focused on his major tournament he was playing in an hour or so. The cop tried to smash his window and then ripped his arm through the window as Scottie slowed to a stop. He was doing what they were told to do by cops-- golfers drive to your gate! It was a big misunderstanding, and an honest one by Scottie and an overreactive cop. That never would have happened in Palm Beach. We have had hundreds of tournaments here for generations. No problems, and golfers go to their gate.

He had no idea the accident was fatal at that time. He was directed around the bus by another cop as he needed to get into the median access, just the other side of the stationary bus. This access was not available to the bus. The cop directing him knew this, the idiot cop kerbside clearly did not.

As best I can tell, a misunderstanding ballooned here due to the dynamics at play. Though it's hard to believe that someone can mistake the pedestrian fatal accident for regular tour traffic, it's still possible. But as soon as you disregard a police officer's directions while you are in a car, you are now operating a deadly machine adversarially against the police. Though derided to the point of being a silly trope in the movies/tv, a traffic officer puts his/her/their life on the line every time they are in the road. It is **extremely** serious business not to obey them because their **life** and other drivers' **lives** are on the line. If you think a traffic police officer overreacts when someone disregards them, which is entirely possible, you must account for this dynamic. And once initiated, the police officer is perfectly and reasonably justified to use force to curtail the possibly surprisingly dangerous behavior to minimize risk to the officer's life, his fellow officers' lives, and the other drivers' lives. But this is not obvious if you have not thought seriously about this issue, and judging by the comments here on YT many haven't.
