The thing is a lot of people make a lot of money from the Ryder Cup so why don't the players? Personally I think all the profits should go to grassroots golf but as long as some people in the background are making a stack of money I can understand some players wanting in on it too.

Great answers from a very grounded superstar. It does ask the question of why shouldn’t the players share some of a very big pie. It’s then up to them whether their conscience would let them keep it or whether their Foundations or Charities should benefit.

Playing in a golf tournament for money is fine and what they are paid is also fine and that's why Scotty and all the other guys do it otherwise they would not have the lifestyle they do.. Take a percentage of the profits to donate to your favourite named charity or for grass roots golf, absolutely yes. Being paid to represent your country? No, not IMO. No one should need paying to represent their country if they have a shred of respect and love for their home nation.
