Great video, Scottie. One thing though. Red Foil didn't change. It's still at 199. Sometimes they call it Red Foil, sometimes it's called Red Crackle Foil, but it's the same thing. Cheers!

The design concept is very cool.. I don’t like how the team names and sometimes players names are tough to see.

I can see why they jettisoned the Mother’s and Father’s Day parallels; not unlike the green, there are a limited number of teams and uniforms which have worked well with these through the years. With that said, the 2022 light blue Father’s Day Witt Jr RC is phenomenal. Overall, I like the design as well. Not as bold as 2024 but not treading into tired & recycled design like 2021 was either. The design is ugly, IMHO. The player name font is wonky AF; the flowing parallel bars are distracting; the position graphic in the bottom right is confusing. Overall, there’s way too much going on in the cards. For a comparison in similar design aesthetic, look at 1982 Topps baseball. They’ve done this look better before.

The weirdest thing is that they look like they're from MLB The Show, or some sort of other card collecting sports game mode. They look......fineish, but I dislike a lot more of it than I like. I'm probably way too old school for saying this, but I liked being able to tell if the card was centered or not just by glancing at it. I haven't loved many of the recent designs due to this, sadly. I also have to add, that the 1/1 in these sets are egregiously plain. Platinum should be an /10 or /50 kind of card, same for Platinum Foil. That just doesn't scream 1/1 to me. I wish they would've upped that up to something more grand or regal. Granted, not many times I've got a 1/1 from any set in my hands!

My two big questions: If blacks are gone, does that hurt or increase the value of all the blacks from previous years? Second, no purple and blue foil boards seems to really hurt retail. That would be a huge blow.

I hope that less numbered cards means they are going to drop production numbers by a ton. Otherwise you will be opening and getting nothing out of this stuff. But they need to drop production by a ton! I still think these companies are missing the boat. I think base rookies need to be numbered like they were back in the early 2000's. We need to bring some value back to base and I think by limiting the base rookies (which it seems like they do with certain players anyway) that this could help.

The black parallels aren't gone. How soon we forget. Topps doesn't release the entire parallel list with their initial preview. They did the exact same thing last year and people cried because black wasn't listed. Yet it was in the product.

low parallels with chrome makes sense because of the reduced checklist and print run. but if these numbers are accurate (and flagship print run remains the same), you'll be opening 5 hobby boxes and pulling maybe one or two non gold cards, most likely of scrubs.

If there's no black parallel, that's Topps saying to collectors that they don't think the black parallel should even be collectible. I'm not a fan of these changes if they're true...but something tells me they're not. Ripped has been wrong before, including mock-up images of Chrome Update Image Variation Black Parallels numbered to weird numbers like /16. The product came out, and they were numbered /10. Until then, we'll all be left to speculate.

They should have primary color match /25 and secondary color match /99. Ex Dodgers blue /25 and red /99 or Athletics green /25 and yellow /99. I don't want a red /5 Athletics card... Who wants a pink card that matches nothing? I don't understand how people value absolutely hideous cards. Oh yeah, there are color-blind collectors.
