My 2 hobby boxes were loaded. First had 2 gold parallels, Chourio black gold, Jayden Daniels blue first pitch , Witt Jr. 1989 red auto to /25 and silver pack Kirby superfractor auto. Second had a Holliday 1989 auto, Alonso relic and a Padres rookies Clear parallel.

They also removed the team color border parallels, which is a bummer too. Loved those in series 1 and 2

I loved these too...also leaving them out kinda makes ones you may have collected less valuable IMO

I've seen some good pulls from the hobby boxes. I'll be buying some hangers since they're supposed to be bangers. Chrome is just a few weeks away. I'll be blowing my money on that. Good vid!

We ripped 2 hobby boxes we preordered from Topps...in 1, we got 2 autos of OK rookies and a Jeter 1989 relic and the 2nd one had most of the true rookies, including Skenes and the Elly All-Star insert. We had fun with it!

I pulled a Jackson Merrill Gold on card Auto 89 throwback #/50 One of my best pulls ever. I also got two autos in one of my hobby boxes!

Hey Scottie, Thank you for the great break down. Like Phil said in the latest Spitballin video, the autos and relics are coming out more than stated. I have opened two hobby boxes and got a relic card as well as an auto in both boxes and the autos were the 89 design on card.

Great video Scottie! I ripped 3 Jumbo boxes and they were all loaded. I was very pleased with the relics, autos and parallels I got. I pulled 6 autos out of the 3 boxes ( 4 in base packs and 2 in the silver packs). I love Update and this year is no different. But you are right, way too expensive. But with 5 stud rookies just off the top, we knew they were going to jack the price. Hopefully 2025 Series 1 is a lower price.

Great analysis - agreed on the prices. Despite the ridiculous price tag I was excited for the rookie class set so went out and got a Jumbo box, but the best card I pulled was an Orelvis Basabe auto... sadness

Super fun break. I feel topps flagship has improved vastly. My first 5 jumbos all autos on card. My 6th jumbo had a sticker auto /25 and chrome rc auto /50. Oh wells.

Normally I don't like the blaster parallels but the black border does well with the Halloween parallels. It's worth a shot with some retail, especially a hanger box if you see one in stores.

Great analysis overall. I will say though that as far back as I can remember rookie relics have always been player worn and not game used in pretty much all their products, so I don’t necessarily agree that should be a knock on update.

I snagged a pre-order box, otherwise I wouldn't have opened a jumbo hobby box. I pulled a /50 Ohtani Silver pack mojo and a Shota Imanaga /25 Black Gold Auto. It was loaded! But I can't pay over 300 for a jumbo hobby box. Just can't do it. $200 was perfect, though.

Because for the price of a 10min Topps Chrome “experience”, I could go for a holiday instead in my part of the world. I would want to get at least some of my money back. If hobby boxes were like $50 i wouldnt say a thing but its a lot more. Not to say stuff like cosmic chrome and dynasty. That said I really like to admire cards. I really take my time opening packs and enjoying the cards. Would be a lot better if it didnt feel so painful to my wallet..

My jumbo hobby case was LOADED. I actually need some help about a card and hoping some people in the comments may be able to help. I haven’t seen anyone list this on EBay yet so I have no idea what “comps” are. But I pulled a Paul Skenes silver pack gold /50 auto. Anyone have any idea what possible value could be? You are very unlikely to get one of the numbered/low population cards of the RCs you want most by opening packs. Just target a few and buy them. You'll easily spend less that $140 and probably still end up with money left over. Base RCs won't hold their value with these recent production runs. Just look at the HOFers RCs for this later 1980s. Still mostly under $10.
