► Scottish Deerhound Breed [2020] Temperament & Training

We saw a Scottish Deerhound win the 2021 Nationals Dog Show on TV. It looks like a fascinating breed. This will have to wait a while until we have a large property, though.

They are gorgeous and very sensitive dogs! The only drawback is that their life expectancy, as with the Irish Wolfhound, unfortunately, is not very high.

Have had 3 Deerhounds so far, and they're amazing hounds. Sadly the second one died at 5 years old to and had to be put down because of kidney failure. But the first one and third one is going strong, so strong in fact that the third has reached a shoulder height of 84cm and he's only a year old!

They are simply soul dogs! How old did your first Deerhound become?

@@Breedstube 9 years of age. Had him put down a year ago due to increasing stiffness in his joints and neck causing a lot of pain and irritation for the poor fellow that even painkillers and other treatment couldn't help.
