Great ride with some lovely scenery thrown in. I bought a pair of FLR Rexston gravel shoes in the summer prior to going on a 174 mile bike packing trip. They were sold to me on the basis that they would be good for walking in, if you need to do any hike a bike. Because the cleats are set down below the sole, you don’t slide around as your walking. They are also waterproof and breathable, and they were so comfortable, I never had to break them in before using them on my long trip.

I always think gravel can be accessible to all abilities (and ages😉). You just choose a route that has some smooth gravel roads. It’s great not having the pressure of traffic too. Our roads in Edinburgh are like riding gravel 😂

I’m 60 and with the assist of a Canyon ebike and suspension seat post there aren’t any roads that we can’t enjoy in comfort. I use the assist when I need it and when I don’t I keep it off. Get out and enjoy the adventures.

The building at 6:46 looks like an Oast House, which is a type of kiln used to dry crops after harvesting. We have lots of them in Kent specifically for drying hops, as part of the beer brewing process.

Wow! Thank you 😊 it’s such a beautiful building. I can’t believe I’ve never seen it before. Normally cycle past the road to it all the time. That’s why I love gravel, you can find exciting new things. 😊

It does look a bit like an oast house, but it is Phantassie Doocot (dove cote) at Preston Mill, East Linton.
