A really enjoyable video - great balance of POV/roadside/handheld filming and helpful narration around the route and the conditions. A special shout-out to Frank for the spectacular aerial shots; watch out though, he's going to want his own channel. I cycle that area often but still found 'new' and interesting sections here, which I'll explore asap. Thanks for another quality film.

The rides way out in the sticks and wilds are lovely and the drone shots are epic but this is far more my kind of thing, gorgeous and fairly flat rides just, well, ok near, my door step. Braw countryside, nothing to technical - just a lovely pootle. Glad you got a lovely day for it!

What a lovely wee route and a wee change from the forestry roads when your away from an area you forget about all the lovely woodland about there. It would be easy enough to follow the Esk into Musselburgh for an ice cream. I need to do this route as I’m sure these are the sort of placed my mother would explore as a girl. On the road bike I found a sandwich box that fitted my jersey pocket and a coffee flask to fit my bottle cage perfect for winter riding lol.

Great video. Absolutely love that Haddington-Longniddry path. ‘Luxury’ gravel that you could easily do on a road bike with 25’s.

Good stuff Rusty, this was a nice ride to watch. Excellent drone shots with the sun out. And I'll be out soon to try route. Many thanks 🤝

Really enjoyed the video. I’ve done some of the tracks so it was great to see how you linked them up. Cheers again 👍

Amazing, eastlothian is full of this type of cycling, stunning ariel views of quite literally my back yard, just a little bit to the right of the H to L railway. PS, buy a Kona MTB just like the one I was riding when I bumped in to you on the lammermuir hills😊 Excellent video 👍

Hi Rusty, Great to see our local back yard trails by someone else on KZbin, well made and as always well presented, only spoiled by too many advert breaks!, in 24 minutes there was 6 advert breaks! 🙄 just too much!!!! which spoil the flow of your film - TV has less breaks! which otherwise than those spoiling it was a great wee film, thanks! P.S. you missed visiting the Queens Mount at Cadbury 😉😁 Cheers Bruce 👍

I don't have control over the number of ads, I have noticed KZbin going way overboard on them recently on stuff I have been watching too. Nightmare.

Nice to see you in EL. The drone footage is amazing. As Bruce mentioned, it’s a shame that KZbin went a bit far with the adverts. Keep the films coming.

Greatings from the U.S.A. another wonderful video. In your experience how's the weather for gravel riding around Edinburgh the last week of December through the first week of January? I will be visiting and hope to get a ride or two in.

Hi, thanks for watching. The weather can be anything - it's Scotland after all 😄 I would expect chilly and probably windy, maybe wet and a little bit of sun possible...

You mention buying an MTB for the rougher rides, have you thought about a Gravel bike with suspension? I keep thinking about it whenever I ride a descent that's a bit "chucky" (like the Burma Road and the bit around Ryvoan in the Cairngorms). But I find that even on the rougher climbs I'm still faster on my gravel bike. I do have a Redshift Shockstop stem and a Canyon VCLS seatpost on my Orro Terra C, which do make quite a difference to comfort, but still need to slow down a lot on rough descents. The Rockshox 30/40mm fork or the Lauf Seigla leaf spring look like they may be enough to bridge the gap without going all the way to an MTB. I'm also thinking about how I could experiment with drop bars to my Canyon Exceed hard tail without spending a fortune on new levers etc. I think Lael Wilcox rides a Specialized Epic with drops as her ultra endurance off road bike.

Good points, I have looked at gravel bike with suspension but not totally sold on that idea yet. I need to see if it actually does enough to warrant having it over a mtb. If it's just more weight with basically vibration dampening then it's probably not quite enough for some of the tougher Scortish gravel sections. I don't know, there is just so much choice these days!

@@RustyRidesGravel It's frustrating that getting a test ride on something with the Rockshox fork seems impossible, even more so as I'm 188cm tall and would need a L or XL. Living in the Scottish Highlands doesn't help either, with so few Gravel bike dealers.
