Yes!! It's available here on YT. I really lost it when he meets the other one also escorting a hero home. I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I'll leave it there. This really was an excellent movie and Kevin Bacon wears the uniform well. You can't understand how hard it must be unless you watch this movie.

I've been on a few "Angle Flights" and it is sobering and silent inside that AC-130 when that flag draped coffin is secured in the the center of that bird in plain sight. The only thing more heartbreaking is when you are assigned as a family advocate to dedicate all your time to the family of the lost hero helping them through arrangement that have to be made while still comforting them with their loss.

My grandfather was in WWI on the front line in France, he was a stretcher bearer and my mom said he only told her one story about the war. He and his partner were sent over the top (as medical staff they weren't allowed to carry a weapon) when they were attacked by a German Soldier. His partner took out his knife and dispatched the German and they went about their duty. My Grandfather came home a changed man, he suffered from "shell shock" today it's called PTSD and the men were told to get on with their life. He self medicated with alcohol for 20 years. When he got sober he met my Grandmother and they had 4 children and 12 grandchildren. Grandpa was a quiet and reserved man who loved watching his grandkids play. He passed into memory in 1974.

The movie is fantastic. It shows how we take care of our fallen heroes. It's from the beginning of the body arriving home to the cleaning and dressing of the soldier (this is based on a true story "Taking Chance"). He never left Chance's side, even sleeping in the airport hangar and the funeral home. It also shows how passengers on the plane react when they find out they're on an "Angel Flight", the crew on the ground unloading the casket and how we honor them on the final drive home. It's very emotional. Kevin Bacon can play any role beautifully, but I think he outdid himself in this one. More recently, a pilot for a large airline, who'd lost his father in the Vietnam War, received a call that 50+ years later, his father's remains had been identified. He flew his daddy home. His co-pilot made the announcement over the intercom that unbeknownst to them, they'd been on an Angel Flight. The son was 5 years old when he hugged his daddy goodbye, from the same airport where he brought him home. I'll see if I can find the link. WATCH THIS VIDEO! kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2W6Y2WdiZxgiJo

I totally understood this movie when I watched it. As a Marine I have done my share of funeral details, including one for a Marine I had served with back in 1977 who was killed in the barracks bombing in Beruit in 1983. I've met with the body escorts and saw the reactions of the families. During the first Gulf War I was assigned to the Joint Service Personal Effects depot whose job it was to inventory, clean and return the personal effects of a fallen service member to their next of kin, I've been to the Port Mortuary at Dover Delaware and have seen the work they do there. This movie hit home.

Great job. You do an excellent service with your channel. Great content. I really like how you say "Let's Go". Anyway back to this video. I accidentally discovered "Taking Chance" while browsing a local record/music store. The title, Kevin Bacon, the brief description intrigued me. So I bought the movie. It is a many different emotions film. Sorrow, pride, American respect, a sense of loss, anger towards whose who would destroy this country & discarding the sacrifice of the young adults who died in service. I felt other emotions, but the main one was getting choked up getting misty eyed, even crying. (Darn allergies or was it onions being peeled). Oh, on the front of the DVD case were two other reasons to buy. 1. Official Selection 2009 Sundance Film Festival. 2. "When one falls, another brings him home."

My father has been gone for 19 years now, but every Memorial as we would cookout and friends and family were celebrating, my dad would tell this story. The day my parent found out they were pregnant with me, I'm the oldest 54 yrs old, we the same day my parents returned from the doctors and dads draft notice(1966) was in the mail waiting. My dad called the recruitment enter and explained mom was expecting and then had to provide proof from the doctor, they refilled his number as married with a dependent, his number did not come up again. He would hug me and tell me Thank You, I had absolutely nothing to do with the conception part 😉, he said because of me he was not drafted for Vietnam.

I served from 1971 to 1974. Death is part of the bargain. For us (the individual soldier, sailor, marine or airman) we can accept our death. We would rather be killed than maimed. The true sorrow and heartache is for those we leave behind. If we are wounded, slightly or severely then that heartache lingers in us and them. Pray for all of our 'heroes' who have given so much for us to be able to live here free (at least for now). They didn't give themselves up for left wing ideology. They gave them selves up for the dream that was America!
