I grew up going to Savannah on family vacation. Pirates House was a place that we would go for dessert almost every night. For years there was an animatonic pirate at the tunnel entrance and when you pushed the red button it would give you the story. Legend goes that a pirate captain actually died upstairs. Its a really cool spot.

Enjoying your Savannah videos. There is so much rich history in that old city. Next time y’all come back try to visit Ft. Pulaski. It’s near Tybee Island & the largest masonry fortification in the America, it’s an amazing structure.

Savannah is an amazing place for history, walking tours, and food. OMG the food. I did not eat a bad meal the whole time I was there. Even the pizza was the best I've eaten. I'm glad you ate at The Pirate House our trolley driver recommended it to us when we couldn't get into Paula Deans he told us it is where the locals eat. So good!

I love Savannah! I was there several years ago in November at Thanksgiving! The weather was great, sunny and upper 50's! Funny though, all the locals were wearing coats, hats, and gloves! ?They were all freezing while we being Michiganders, were wearing shorts and sweatshirts, loving the weather! Next year, we went to Charleston in late May! Charleston in beautiful, but the temps and humidity were both in the low 90's! Totally ruined the trip for me! It was miserable!

I moved here FROM Michigan! I ride my motorcycle year round. It just doesn't get that cold. The last year I lived in MI, I bought a carhardtt Sherpa coat on clearance in April. Move to Savannah in August. I've never worn it as it doesn't get cold enough, even when riding my bike in February! BTW, I grewup inNW Fla. Lived there for 30 years then moved north for 20 years. I too laugh at locals in the winter time. If you really want to laugh, go to Miami, in late Jan when a cool front goes through. You'll see people wearing ski parkas in 50 degree weather...😅😅😅

I always thought it was a fun place. Touristy, yes, but I agree, real historic. Blackbeard used it too from what I understand. When I’ve been there, it was years ago, the food was not great. Not bad, just not great. I’m glad it’s better! The best ghost tour I’ve been on was in Savannah, it was a walking tour though.

My family has been in this area for so long that my ancestor Daniel Melvin from Skye was captured by Blackbeard and forced to serve as cabin boy He spent quite a bit of time in that very building until he was able to escape in north Carolina. There is a book about it entitled "Blackbeard's cabin boy"

I love Savanah, Georgia! I've been to the Pirate House in 2010. Greatest shrimp and grits ever! My sister ordered them but said they were too rich. I ate her whole plate!! Our waiter was aweful and made fun of us. I complained to management but begged them not to fire him. He's probably in his 30's now and, hopefully a better man. Love the spanish moss that hangs from the trees. Beautiful how they have a park everywhere and houses all around. Liked the river walk. Very hot, humid but the azaleas and dogwoods in bloom in April are stunning. Did hear it's haunted, but being of hispanic heritage and superstitious myself, I didn't do those tours. Also, google the angel oak tree...prettiest tree ever!! Lots of history for USA, maybe not Europe. Also, loved your New Orleans vlog years ago and North Carolina. They were exceptional!! You guys are awesome!!

Savannah is one of my favorite places to visit. And I saw the Pirate House on a bus tour years ago. Black Beard used to go there a lot to sell the things he had plundered on his many adventures on the high seas. Lucky you to get to go inside. If you notice the front porch is painted Haint Blue. The belief is that ghosts can't cross anything painted that color. Also, oftentimes you would see bottle trees. The belief was that ghosts would be attracted to the dark blue bottle and get trapped inside. Great history. Also, the history about Forrest Gump's bench is this: There were actually three benches made. The one Tom Hanks sat on is in a museum there in Savannah; the second one was bought by an unknown person and the third one got stolen.

The Forrest Gump bench was NOT a film prop. Clarification, they might have used a bench that fit the era of the film but there was always a bench there. They had to remove the bench because ::cough:: tourists ::cough:: were causing major problems with traffic trying to take pictures and having to go into the street to get their perfect shots. Chippewa Square is one of my favorites in Savannah. My family lived there when I was little (and I learned to ride a two-wheeled bike in many of the parks/squares). You should spend more time in Savannah! All the squares are worth visiting and one of my favorite things is to do when I get to visit these days is just find a shady spot and sit and read or people watch.

To lean into US history & architecture the next time in NYC visit the “White Horse Tavern” (in the West Village) and “Seminary Square” in Chelsea’s Historic District; both are from the early 1700s. The structure on 10th Ave -previously the church rectory is a hotel now. It overlooks The Highline (elevated park) and it’s also on NYC’s newest “restaurant row.” I can’t vouch for the food at any particular place there except “Moran’s.” It’s the oldest Scottish/Irish restaurant in Manhattan, has a similar vibe as the pirate place and the lamb we had there on Easter was good.
