@@David-lu4gq they did exist in the 1200's . Wallaces sword was a two handed sword , also claymores were used up until the end of the 17th century

@@bigboaby555 I have yet to be a two handed great sword from the 13th century. It is far more likely that he used a two handed axe, with an arming sword and heater shield as a backup.

Some larger sword has a blunt portion near the guard, but not half the blade.
