Thanks Rob. An excellent reminder for all of us ahead of our winter adventures. The dry bags with windows look like a great idea but I'm wondering whether the window might become brittle and crack in low temperatures. What is your experience please?

Hi Ian, glad it’s useful. No, I haven’t had any problems with the dry bag windows splitting 👍

I'd be interested in how a Paramo set up would differ :)

Hi Rob, great video. A question on crampons, how do the Lynx crampons perform in soft or less than ideal snow? Do they shear more than the horizontals? Thanks.
@RobJohnson10 күн бұрын
In soft snow it’s the whole of the front of the foot that will be creating steps - a horizontally orientated front point will be more effective in this scenario but it would be hard to notice much of a difference as the front points themselves are such a small part of the overall picture. Having said that I do remember heading into a mixed climb in the Cairngorms and I’d chosen a mono setup for the steeper mixed terrain. We had some naff snow on the approach and my crampons definitely weren’t biting as well as I’d have liked. I was glad to get on the steeper stuff!
