This is legend. The fact that Derek Forbes asked Herbie Hancock if he’d like to hear their new music and he ended up playing the keyboard solo on this track. Awesome!

@@lawrenceomond7341 That HH played on the track? He's on the credits
@vwstormchaser79856 ай бұрын
@@lawrenceomond7341it’s true. They were recording at the same studios. SM were struggling to get the bridge right. DF met HH between takes and was telling him this. HH took an interest, listened and then came up with the solo. That’s why it’s a bit more jazzy than most SM.

Beautiful, ethereal, evocative song....reminds me of hooking up with women in bars and clubs in the 80s...."see me as I figure in your late night plan"...."only with you life moves so fast"....."only with me first times can never lie".........."When you hear me screaming I'll be seeing through the eyes of love"....beautiful lyrics that slay my soul....young love is the most pure of all....based only on raw physical attraction....when you feel that intense mutual attraction with someone, time and the world disappear

'Life moves so fast'.... it certainly does. I was a fifth former once, pouring over this album - the artwork, the production.. treasuring it like a sacred possession. And now I'm 57 and feel no different. I become choked up every time I hear it... It just cuts the core and yet lifts you up. Mind bindingly good, literally.

This is my very best track from my best band and music. i am from Iraq writing from Baghdad. My kindest Regards to every member of this great band Simple Minds. They were singing beautiful music then. There will never be another band which will produce anything close.

Crystalline, perfect - a soul trip. Blows me away every time - unearthly and yet so painfully sensual simultaneously. Breaks my heart and revives it at the same time. Inexplicable. Like some kind of Japanese poem infused by western rock. Inexpressibly good. Could be the best of all....

Intramontabili Simple Minds... Sono a quota 55 e li seguo sin dai loro albori negli anni 80, che tempi, fenomenale repertorio, li ascoltavo in musicassette, ma questa insieme a Theme for Greats Cities, ritengo siano da brividi... Buon viaggio... Ottima versione Scottish MTV... Chapeau

It's a shame that we are only able to experience the greatest era of our lives just once, Which I for one took for granted. I always was well rounded when it came to music even though hairbands pretty much ruled the world I was in, so back then to listen to these guys and this type of music was like being in the closet (no offense to anyone) As a man who is now in the process of figuring out what I am gonna do with the rest of my life (retirement) I reflect often on how time has passed so damn quickly. So glad I was a teen of the 80's. So sad that I can only live them in memories as that time slips away every day.

IMO they got it right the first time around on NGD where the song builds to the keyboard solo late in the song. Putting it at the front takes away the anticipation of it. Also you can tell where parts have been added in because it doesn't flow as well as the original Having said that, the original version would have to be one of the best songs SM wrote
@acos212 жыл бұрын
Was thinking exactly the same! On this version the buildup you are refering to (mid section) is stronger though.
