They were 20 years ahead from peers

No, they were off their time. You can hear their influences which pastiched together with their own originality. They will never be "big" even if they came out 20 years later. Most who heard them appreciated them, timeless sounds just as good as it did then.

@@ScottishTeeVee Thanks for uploading. Brought back memories. I had forgotten about this performance.

Thanks for this awesome footage. Criminally underrated and underappreciated band. Hearing their live sound, if you take away Grant's voice, I can hear early 3-piece New Model Army.

I really thought I was the only one who could hear a hint of NMA, so thank you for the comment 🙂

I was a follower from about '93 when the "Fuzzy" single was being played on MTV's late night alternative segment. I thought it was fucking wonderful! I only finally got to see them live at The Arches in Glasgow on their Copperopolis tour which was effin' cool! At the time i couldn't understand why several people in the crowd were chanting "For The Turnstiles!" Now I know. And what a rendition of it! I live in London now and have seen Grant several times over the years, even speaking with him once when he walked past the queue outside the venue. His style has certainly mellowed over the years, but he's still a great performer who still churns out some musical gems!

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I'm a big fan of these guys, I love what an integral part of the sound the bass guitar is in this performance. Awesome!!

Glad you enjoyed it! And I could not agree with you more, which is why I used the image of Paul (The bass player) as the video thumbnail instead of Grant. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment

I think the bassist Paul Kimble really made this band great. Gave them a harder edge. Didn't enjoy Grant Lee Phillips solo stuff nearly as much.
