I know that you're not over here in 2020 trying to publicly objectify Bjork. Talking that way about anybody would be rude and gross, but trying to sexualize someone with as much power as she, from behind an avitar, is at best pitiful and could be dangerous to your health. Apologies if I misunderstood the comment....

The Sugarcubes (just like Kukl) was never just Björk, the Cubes without Einar would be like the B-52's without Fred Schneider. Deus without the spoken parts would not have been half as interesting (imo, of course) But of course, I was a fan of the group before I was a fan of solo Björk, so this is what I "grew up with", finding their music in kind of reverse order could very well be a rather different experience than mine ;-)

With singing, I'm sure it just hits right away and everyone knows, especially since we can compare with recordings of voices going back over a century. I occasionally played w/ Chris Farley when we were little (didn't really get to know him though), since he was a fellow kid from a mutual friend's neighborhood - he was always funny w/ the fat kid antics and epic wisecracking, but no one had any idea he was going to be The Chris Farley™. All of a sudden he's on SNL just a handful of years after graduating h.s., with Chris Rock and the like, and WTF. Never felt like he was destined for anything like that though.

I am a 40 year old skinhead from America and people look at me strangely when I am at work, I restore classic cars and build rat rods, and blasting the Sugarcubes and then ska from the 50's and 60's and then hardcore punk. Bjork is one of my top 5 favorite vocalists.
@alanross28762 жыл бұрын
What’s a skinhead?
@TheJoyrunners2 жыл бұрын
@@alanross2876 it’s a subculture started with the reggae/ska, and later punk groups, in England during the late 70’s and early 80’s. In America they branched off into Oi! The original skinhead movement was aggressively anti-racist, but a lot of their fashion/culture was co-opted by fascists and neo-Nazis. I don’t mean “Nazi” in the way that modern leftists use it, I mean genuine card carrying white supremacists. So a lot of people associate the word “skinhead” with Neo-Nazis, even though the original skinheads were actually anti-racist and borrowed/collaborated with Jamaican immigrants to create their subculture. If you want more information on the movement, check out some bands like The Specials, The English Beat, and the UK Subs. Some modern American groups that are carrying on the tradition are Rancid and The Interrupters. While they are not explicitly skinhead groups, they take a lot of influence from their look and sound.
@mfg2082 жыл бұрын
In Europe, there were many problems in the 80's and 90's, there were many subgroups of skinheads, they differed by bracelets or details, tiny, at first glance, you never knew which group they belonged to, they were always defensive, or eager of trouble, then, it was better not to meet them on the street or subway, because you could find yourself inadvertently, in the middle of a fight, or... they took you, why yes, attitude very similar in the movie A Clockwork Orange, now they are very aggressive, the state always has them under control, it is common to find them in soccer matches, or demonstrations, and there they dress and express themselves as they are, in the 80s or 90s, there were groups of the left, progressives, anti-racists, now, those who remain, associate with right-wing or far-right groups, and dress normally, to go unnoticed.
