The Paladins - Live Germany 1989 HD

The Paladins live in Baden Baden, Germany 1989. I recorded this from analogue satellite receiver, scart connected into JVC VHS VCR, recording at LP. Unfortunately the tape has slight tracking problems, I just could not get it to replay perfectly, it is still pretty good, I could not find this elsewhere on KZbin. The Paladins started out as a rockabilly band during the rockabilly craze of the early 1980s. Their tagline at the time was "Western & Bop", as they played a combination of rockabilly and vintage country. Their lead singer and rhythm guitarist was Whit Broadly. With this lineup they did their first recording, a contribution to a 1982 local compilation album, Who's Listening?, and a song two years later on The Best of L.A. Rockabilly, a 1984 Rhino Records LP. Their first LP, The Paladins, was produced by Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds and was released in 1987 on Wrestler Records. Their second album, Years Since Yesterday, produced by Los Lobos' Steve Berlin and Mark Linnet, was released on Alligator Records in 1989 and had sold more than 20,000 copies by the end of the year; the band shot a music video for the title song at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, California for $30,000. Spending most of their time on the road, by 1989 they had already toured with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Los Lobos, The Blasters and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. They toured abroad as well; in the summer of 1989, between recording sessions for the third album, they played in Europe for the month of June, including shows at the Peer Music Festival in Belgium and the World Music Festival in London.

Oh Yeah, this is taken me back. Great times indeed. Opened up for the Paladins in Kansas City at the Grand Emporium back in the 90s a few times and it was always good to see these cats. Dave and Tommy were always gracious and kind. Miss these guys.

In the early mid 80s i would go to blues shows taking photographs ...and one day these guys showed up...the tempo went from slow blues to On Fire ...i was hooked. Saw them a million times..and they still mezmerize me!

Saw them in Santa Cruz. Was talking to Dave and Tom asking why they aren't playing. They said that they where waiting for Scot he went surfing . Sure enough he comes in right of the waves. Sit down and they jammed. Great live in concert.. very cool cats...

George Thorogood I saw last year & he was boring.A Blues Rock Artist who se best known songs are all covers.Brian Setzer is on a completely different planet in terms of musical ability.There he was sitting with Warren Haynes watching Jeff Beck & Imelda May at the Les Paul Tribute.I have seen Stray Cats,Lee Rocker Band,Darrell HIgham & Slim JIm,Imelda May a few times.,The Rockabilly Riot.The Paladins have such a huge collection of self written material.They are on a different planet to the Blues Rock of George Thorogood.

@@ScottishTeeVee They played Byron Bay Bluesfest 1990,1994,1996,1999,2001,2004 and 2014.Candye Kane also played 2014 { I have also seen her at Narooma] & Thomas Yearsley put her band together & played Bass. RIP Candye she could swing it..I live in New Zealand & did not find out about the festival until 2004 so I only saw 2004 & 2014.They Played Great Southern Blues & Rockabilly Festival at Narooma 2014 which I attended and had a rap to them afterwards.Played Greasfest 2019 Brisbane + Sideshows in Melbourne & Adelaide which I did not attend,but I have attended that festival before.Because Au has sun & surf like the US it has a alot of Rockabilly Fans.
