Lockdown mods! I keep spending and this time I got a Scotts steering stabilizer. They have a kit for the T7 now and you can install it yourself. Here is a "how to" video for you. I did it twice so you only have to do it once ;)
Remember to visit my shop if you have a T7 or just want a sticker: sasmcshop.square.site/
I bought the stabilizer from Torimoto: torimoto.com.au/
Tori is a fellow youtuber. We floggers need to stick together ;)

That was the best Scott’s dampener install video available on KZbin. Great camera work, lighting, explanation and I think you made the tightening tool video for the steering stem also. If you could overlay torque settings and page numbers from the manual for the Tenere 700.. thanks again!

I liked the video, except what you do with tightening the castle nuts. The 1st castle nut has a 3 step tightening (1st to 75 Nm, 2nd loosen 180 degrees, 3rd to 7 Nm). The 2nd castle nut just needs to be finger tight. Also look for "steering nut wrench", that gives you something that you can attach to your torque wrench and tighten the castle nuts to spec.

Great addition, mine has saved me from going down many times. Don't be afraid of adjusting it from the stock setting. It took me 3 years and someone riding my bike and telling me it was too stiff to finally adjust it to where it isn't interfering with my riding anymore.

I believe the Scotts unit to be the best version on the market due to the way it functions. Even if you have multiple bikes you only need one damper and mount it up to various submounts as required. I was fortunate to get mine through an America friend at work when the exchange rate was $1.10 in the Aussie's favour. Your going to love its ability to stop the fatigue when grinding through deep sand. Enjoy 👍🏻

Thanks Brendon. Frustrating times in lock down. Scotts steering stabilisers are top quality bits of kit. They definitely take away the twitchy uneasiness on long straights when punching away the K's. I have found they can mess with your head stem tension though - and give some movement within the head stem after long hard rock rides. More to do with the head stem dust cap they supply. If you keep a feel for movement in your head stem it its easy to tune it a bit and stop any bearing damage. I have tried different O rings etc - nothing hard to work out, just sharing the info. 100% worth the $. robust and easy to use. I have mine set between 2 to 7 for single track riding and then stiffen it right up when on open road. Its easy to forget you spent real money on this bit of fruit until you are sitting on a dollar twenty kilometers p/h and then turn the dial clockwise a bit and everything settles down just nicely.... worth every cent. Hope you are back on the road soon and crossing those unrestricted colonial map lines just like the old days

Luckily for me the mounting peg mounts to my frame and I don't have to worry about removing the triple etc... Hopefully mine will be even more straight forward. Thats what make us enthusiasts and not just commuters. The bike is perfectly fine in stock form, but unfortunately people are all different and everyone wants it perfect for them. @Bob Sacamano - "Damping" and "to damp" have been used for centuries by physicists to describe the lessening of oscillation by absorption of its energy. "Dampening" has crept into automotive discussions, probably by participants without formal education in science. But it always reminds me of ironing my Boy Scout uniform. :-)
