You can clearly see from the straps on the front hooves at 9:14 King of Diamonds that they have put small "stacks" on the horses hooves, this is disgusting and it's only a matter of time that greedy, cruel owners will use the bigger stacks, acid and chains to get an unatural gait from the poor horses, the same as the horrendously cruel and torturous Big Lick Walking Horses which is being campaigned AGAINST in Tennessee USA, as you can only force the horse to "walk" in this fashion through disfigurement, pain and touture. It went along the lines of the horse got injured so she was able to work and save enough to buy her if she helped rehab her. It was a great book. My daughter rides now so I have passed all my books to her. I will say that I remember the very first barn I rode at they had a chestnut Arab named Pat. I always loved him! What are they judged on? I’ve never understood these liberty classes in Arabian shows. So bizarre how the handlers keep yanking on their faces too, do they actually want them to hold their heads so high? It’s like backwards world compared to most (not Arabian)halter classes
@MagnificentHorses11 ай бұрын
They are judged on four categories: How closely the horse looks like the Arabian type, how much of the arena they use when they run, their motion when running, and crowd participation. The yanking on the halter seems to be universal for showing Arabians. I am not a big fan of that either.
@lindaerickson575011 ай бұрын
Please educate yourself on the Arabian breed before you criticize the class in an Arabian Show. It’s different from what you’re familiar with, but it’s not bizarre. It’s a class capitalizing on the beauty and movements of the Arabian breed.
@FluxyMiniscus11 ай бұрын
@@lindaerickson5750 isn’t it education to ASK people who are interested in Arabian shows? It IS at the very least bizarre ( I’m substituting that for more critical words that I’m sure you would take offense to) that people think it’s OK to yank on a horse’s sensitive face. Lifelong horse person here- I’m not coming in from the street. I’m struggling to understand why people approach horses in this way- not just Arabians, but a number of other disciplines. We know better, can do better. For the love of the horse.

Let me ask a silly question. Has any horse ever jumped into the judges nest in the middle? The wall is not that tall, and these horses are all worked up.
@MagnificentHorses11 ай бұрын
That's not a silly question at all. I have seen hundreds of these horses in that liberty run over the years and none have ever come close to jumping the wall. Horses typically don't jump things unless they are trained to do so and have a rider on them. I actually do jumping myself, so I kind of know about that. Rarely a horse will jump a gate on its own if it has already been trained, but they would never jump into a place that's full of stuff like that judges area.

If you search KZbin you'll find a video where there's an arena that's really too crowded with jumps & a rider pulling her horse's head just as he/she goes over each jump. The horse shakes its head, hops a little & ditches the rider, then proceeds to take every jump in the arena on its , clearly having a good time, jumping w/ beautiful form, never even tapping a bar. A good rider once told me that w/ a good jumper, the rider's job is basically to point the horse at the jump & not screw up what the horse knows how to do. This video is hilarious proof of that, tho' in general I think there's more to it than point-&-hang-on!
@helgam.dragosits219711 ай бұрын
Yes it is more. A good jump rider should learn not to disturb the horse's movement. Sadly there are seldom such riders.

How I love horses, especially the Arabian breed, I love all these magnificent horses, they are awesome in their own way and very alert and intelligent 👍❤️🙏🏼… I once rode a half Arab/Morgan cross named Tony, one of the best horses I ever rode. Even though he wasn’t mine, me and Tony connected, he was special and he would do whatever I asked of him. I never mistreated him with cruelty or abused him in any way, and whenever I rode him we both enjoyed each other’s company. I wish I could have bought him, but he died one winter in -30 below zero stormy and snowy weather. He was very depressed and didn’t want to go back with the rest of the herd. He was a riding club horse, but he should NEVER have had so many riders on him, they treated him as a machine, and were very cruel and would hit him repeatedly with sticks and whips, pulling and jerking at his mouth with reins, running him on hard rocky ground and pavement and ended lame many times. What he truly wanted was for somebody to love him, but which he never was given that love. I would have loved him for himself. He was that special. After he died, the owner told me that he would have sold him to me for $500, but it was already too late. I still miss him and think of him often. 😢 RIP Tony, may you rest in God’s eternal peace and pastures….❤️🙏🏼

That's a good question. The judges have different categories. One is how well the horse fits the Arabian type. Another area is movement. The third is use of the arena (as in they want the horse to use the entire arena), and last is crowd participation.

I had no idea this was a thing. In my area, the Arab shows are basic pleasure riding, halter, and occasionally country seat (if I remember correctly that's what it's called). Anyone could compete, but it was an Arab club with Arab judges in contrast to an otherwise mostly Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred, and Saddlebred area. When I started working with a light gray Arab rescue, I finally got some decent placements, lol. Yet, he did better in dressage. If I could've trained for endurance, that would've been great. But for what we had available, dressage with some trail rides worked out. He always had energy and was always sound, which made many jealous. Great first horse.

@@MagnificentHorses Quite the opposite. It's full of Arabians. They're popular all over the country. The difference lies in the upper class culture. My local wealthier riding clubs happen to be mostly hunter-jumpers that almost exclusively have TBs. A few people are serious enough to make showing at places 2-6 hours away work or go as a spectator. But most people are happy with what's available nearby and it happens to be schooling shows.
