@MagnificentHorses
@MagnificentHorses Күн бұрын
Expert or not, I agree that he is definitely a beautiful Arabian! Looking for the exit is the one and only thing that could possibly show he is under any stress, but anytime you put a horse in turnout, if there is no grass to eat, they always head for the gate after a short time. So that's not a real strong indicator. And this guy shows plenty of other signs that he was not stressed. I've outlined those many times for other comments but would be glad to do it again if you're interested.

I have ridden a pure hackney pony before, and they are like small horses without shock absorbers. Very hard ride. And I know how to post to the trot and I know what diagonal to post on when riding in a ring. They are mostly buggy ponies for a reason.

I don't mind taller horses, but I wouldn't want them to look and show like Saddlebreds or Hackneys. I think it's a shame what has become of the Morgan horse. The breed has truly become unrecognizable compared to what it was no so long ago.

Yeah, I was really surprised at how they looked when I saw them last year for the first time in many years. I'm over 6 feet tall, so I do like taller horses, but I still wish that there were more like the old strain of the original type of Morgan horses.

@@MagnificentHorses His size! A Lot of early Morgan's size and length of backs did not make for suitable riding horses. Today's Morgan's are not all out crosses. It's also selective breeding. They do not look like The American Saddlebread. I think the Saddle seat style of riding has the same frame across all breeds is what is similar.

Gorgeous horses. Glad I never have to judge anything like this, I wouldn't know which one to choose. The length of the tail on the horse that came in 4th is insane! I wonder how easy it is to brush out. A friend owned a Morgan many years ago, and she kindly allowed me to help look after him, he was quite a character but easy to handle, never rode him though as I'm a bit of a chonk 😁

This horse breed is the most COMFORTABLE RIDE I have ridden. Definitely love the bigger breeds. I’m 6ft tall so my legs are a lot longer. The winner has an amazing gait!! I do think the rider could go more relaxed on the horse. One of my horses has a full blaze and for ankle white socks. He is a beauty! I think all horses are a gift from god! Colors are all beautiful. Every now and then I will see a show and know from the first out who will win. I love them all. Thank you for bringing Scottsdale to me here.

What beautiful horses. I love Morgans! I totally agree with the winner. I thought the gentleman riding him was very gentle with the horse's mouth and he showed off his strides perfectly. Do the riders add extra tail or do the horses grow tails like this? I like these larger, longer backed type of Morgans, but I also like the original too. It would be great if they could have the two types recognised. Thank you for sharing this video, I always look forward to your videos every week.

Thanks for your nice comment and I'm glad you look forward to watching my videos! I'm pretty sure the tails are all natural. Morgans were the only horse breed descended from one sire Figure or " the Justin Morgan colt". For over 100 years these beautiful, personable horses were loved and raised by families and excelled at EVERYTHING they did. In the 80's a woman named Maxine Snow of Carlyle Farm was caught infusing American Saddlebred and Hackney blood into Morgans for " bigger longer necked horses with bigger trots" The American Morgan Horse Association was late in bringing in blood typing to the registry, by the time they did, the damage was done, and the purebred Morgan basically became a grade horse of " show type blood". The only true Morgan horses now, are Lippitt Morgans, a registry designed to preserve the bloodline of Figure. I trained, bred and showed Morgans very successfully for almost 30 years, once the breed became so mixed that the Morgan part of the Morgan was not relevant- I left the breed. It was a tragic and horrible thing to see. These days, breeders are trying to breed back more true Morgan blood, which is more represented here in this class, but still not a true Morgan horse.

Thank you for that excellent, detailed synopsis of the Morgan horse history. I hope the Morgan breeders are able to keep the original Morgan type alive and expanded to be more common place. I think it would be great if they just recognized two separate strains like how the Arabian Horses have different strains. Thanks again for all of that great information and I'm glad you have been a part of Morgan horses for such a long time!

@@MagnificentHorses Thank you. We loved our Morgans, the last one I have is 28 and a pure Lippitt. The industry " sort of " recognizes the " new Morgan" and the Lippitt Morgans...but the AMHA doesn't want to make the distinction as that would be admittance of a huge mistake in registration...I feel like what's done is done and they should have a formal barrier of the two. I enjoy your channel, thank you.
@MagnificentHorses
@MagnificentHorses 6 күн бұрын
@@user-bn8vz5wz7n OK, thanks for the additional info! It's too bad the association won't recognize the two strains because that's the reality whether they admit it or not. I don't think it's a mistake to begin with as long as they keep the original strain recognized and separate. I think a lot of people feel the same way as I do or else the newer type we see today wouldn't have ever been developed.

I do find that they are behind the bit but the lady's chestnut and the blue shirt grey were the least behind and but didn't place well unfortunately! However the canter didn't look lame like the QH and actually did look like canters so i enjoyed that :) Arabs are amazing!
