We were just saying how Kauai is so nice because you can find a beach that is not completely crowded like Oahu is - or hopefully you can on your trip. One of the things to mention regarding the road to waimea canyon is how bad the roads are after the waimea canyon lookout area. I just went there 3 days ago during a rain and majority of the road after that all the way to the end have severe potholes so I would suggest not having a low clearance vehicle if you do plan on going there. Also avoid the area when its raining since the fog prevents you from seeing most of the canyon. Most of the areas that we managed to get a great views were from the random railings across the road. I would suggest stopping by if you come across guard rails that has a small dirt patch just enough for a few cars.

Great Information! My husband and I are returning to Hawaii (where we got married (Maui)) in Oct for our 30th anniversary. Kauai was damaged by a hurricane back then so we didn't get to visit so we are really looking forward to it this trip. Thanks for so many detailed tips.

It drives me nuts when you mis-pronounce Waimea. The "E" in Hawaiian is pronounced long "A". Waimea is pronounced "Why May a".

Thank you very much in helping hawaiian pronunciation. I am not very good in English and being hard of hearing make it very difficult to carry a conversation due to pronunciation. I love it when some breaks down a word to make it much easier for to speak well. I will be going to Kaua'i in 2025. Could you please tell me how to say it correctly
