I keep returning to this story cause there seems to be fuck all else out there about Norman Wexler. If this is all true and it all happened in three weeks, the world really needs a film about him.

We let takes a toxic diarrhea dump in the airport then when they get circled by cops he yells “Zmudaa!! The tape!” So he pulls out a special cassette for emergencies & it’s like the voice of Charlton Heston saying “THIS MAN IS A PERSONAL FRIEND OF MINE. DO NOT ARREST THIS MAN” lol

A singular artist like Norman Wexler is far too threatening to the fear-based mediocrity and culturally gutless climate of our time; the retrospective force of his powerful and uncompromising work reveals all too clearly and embarrassingly the creative bankruptcy and vapid corporate oligarchy of 21st century Hollywood, and the ultimate motive is to bury his memory with malice so as not to confront the utter soullessness of American mainstream cinema today. (The screenplay for "Saturday Night Fever" would these days be most assuredly thrown into the fireplaces of every dull and PC executive suite without the slightest hesitation.) That terrifying reality should tell you everything you need to know about why a documentary that was going to be done about his life and screenwriting career was never completed, and probably never will be.
