Seeing a couple comments about Game Changer on Dropout (which I 100% agree is amazing- like, there's been EMMY hype for the last few years!). But while watching this video, the Dropout show that came to MY mind was Total Forgiveness: Two friends who are in severe college debt give each other challenges. If you succeed the challenge, you get money. If you fail the challenge, your opponent gets the money. Every challenge is worth more and more money, so the stakes get higher and higher. The drama got so intense and the real friendship between these contestants was so altered that they decided to cancel the show after only one season. But I promise, it is definitely worth watching!!!

Massive fan of The Challenge, glad it got the nod. What I really love about the show is that it's a constant cycle of returning players (a few have been on 20+ seasons), so there's actual stats and it brings up a ton of debates about legacy. It's the closest reality tv has to a sports league. I wouldn't suggest starting with The Challenge All Stars like Scott said, even though it's awesome, because it's essentially the old people home for past contestants who haven't been on the show for a long time. You want to see these people in their prime! My suggestion would be to start at Fresh Meat 2 (Season 19) and work your way forward (19-22 is the best stretch of seasons). There's a ton of amazing seasons before that too, but FM2 is what will get you hooked and you'll see a healthy mix of important characters on the tail end of their careers, and new ones who will take the reigns from them.

There’s an absolutely fantastic KZbin competition show called JetLag. It’s something like if a competition show was also a board game, but it’s also sort of an Amazing Race-style travel game. Every season is a slightly different (but similar) travel game tailored to wherever they’re playing it, like capture-the-flag across Japan on trains, a roadtrip race from the top to the bottom of New Zealand, or a game of hide-and-seek across all of Switzerland. What makes the show so unique is that the players are also the game designers, so they come in with interesting and well-developed strategies. The show is a lot of fun.

Scott, you have to absolutely no doubt watch the original seasons of The Challenge. It is a no brainer best show ever because of how raunchy tv was in the 90s and 2000s. I mean these people break up, get married, cheat, throw glasses, beat each other up. Break bones and get cut up bad on these challenges. The one thing it always does correct and perfectly is the new location every season and a different theme as well as a twist. There’s been seasons where you get teamed up with your rival from seasons past without knowing. You get teamed up with siblings or a best friend. And the vibe and aura in the house makes it feel so real. These people go to bars and clubs and get wasted just to come home and backstab one another or hookup in secret. I’ve been watching The Challenge since I was like 5. And to this day, it’s my favorite show ever. My whole family is obsessed with it and everyone I’ve told to watch it has become mass obsessed with it because it’s funny, crazy, and the challenges are real dangerous silly things that make you grip your seat at home yelling! Dude you need to watch someone of the greatest renowned seasons for a video. Please please please!

One candidate for Amazon Prime is Documental. 10 Japanese comedians each put up the equivalent of $10,000 of their own money to take part in the show. Rules are simple: 6 hours in a room with everyone else, you laugh and you get eliminated, winner takes all the cash, nothing is off limits. It is one of the most hilarious shows out there seeing comedians trying to break each other in any way possible. They go to the bottom of the barrel to get a chuckle and will set up elaborate gags only for someone else to try and take the thunder. Very much recommended

The ironic sarcasm hosting problem you’re talking about is called “lampshading”! It’s a trope mostly used in fiction writing but script writing for a tv show also applies. Since a writer can’t answer an audiences questions about their piece before they write it, an author can try and predict what the audience might say and address it, or call attention to something weird going on before the audience can ask. But if they do it too much they will sound insecure, which is what you’re picking up on.

To NBC: as resident King of Consumers (TM), I hereby declare that Scott would be the best contestant ever on Deal or No Deal Island. Hire him immediately.

If you like the mole, you should watch traitors. It’s similar but way better than the mole imo

Great video as always! I loved the recommendations, I used to watch a lot of competition/dating reality tv as a teen but haven't checked anything new out in years so this gave me a great starting point and help to skip watching the stinkers. Also I am so pumped for the return of the Cramer Games!!

Im. flabberghasted that you've never seen the Challenge, its a great blend of competition show with soap opera drama, some of it going all the way back to the 90s

I would watch anything that has Scott Cramer in it, he's born for being a TV contestant 😂

In the Peacock one, Scott was sipping on a Danimal on the beach. As if he won the danimal sweepstakes. I like this detail a normal amount.

As a goat owner, the reason they got quiet and went in the barn to eat was because they knew it was about to rain. If I’m ever outside and it’s overcast and my goats stop yelling at me I know it’s about to rain.
