Scott you need to realize that the whole point of a secret hideout is to avoid buying permits!
@raresage.
@raresage. 9 ай бұрын
But to avoid permits you must build it discreetly and if you want a real big secret hideout, you'll need some serious skills or connection. Collin Furze has an awesome series building his secret bunker and tunnel plus now underground garage and lift system. He had actually had worked in it without a permit for quite a bit I think and genuinely was quietly making a secret tunnel. He of course had to get it permitted at some point since hes broadcasting it but its an awesome series about his tunnel and bunker

This reminds me of the guy that built a castle behind his home. Hid it with hay bales. The laws of where he was said if a structure is there for "X" amount of years he didn't need one. So he tried to hide it until the time came where he could just have it. Sadly he was found out before he got his own castle.

One of my favorite underrated secret hideouts is technically more of a house but we're chillin so thats fine: Ronald's house from The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald. Basically all of the live-action segments & the opening theme takes place throughout the house, and its straight up whimsical. Even better, they basically always exited the house by jumping into a ball pit that turned into a magical slide that transformed them into animation; which is really cool. And you just know Ronald got the permits, he's friends with Mayor McCheese.

The owner was wack! I was pretty lucky, the neighbors behind us had a really nice yard and porch. The lady had all kinds of decorations and decor out there and it was so whimsical and magical and it made my imagination go wild. They thankfully let me play on their porch and in their yard as long as we didn't get super loud or mess anything up or take anything out of the yard. Sorry, I know you didn't ask for that story, lol.

Thanks for changing the name of the video. Cartoons aren’t just for kids. As a matter fact, the creators of Phineas and Ferb said the show was initially for adults, but they did not want to exclude kids as a potential audience. It’s really only because of how it was marketed that makes it feel like a kids show.

Unfortunately, that box show caught me at exactly the wrong age where I was old enough to understand that it's absurd to think you could build an elaborate fort like that out of cardboard boxes but too young to understand that it's a TV show and you're supposed to accept that things happen in TV shows that don't always make sense because TV takes place in a different reality from ours, so I just ended up really frustrated that it wasn't realistic.

The nostalgia hit me like a train when your cover of the Out of the Box theme played at the end. As a Canadian kid, my first exposure to US television was a trip to Disneyland in 2002, when my memories were first starting to come online. On the first day of Disney, we started by going to the hotel's breakfast, where OOTB was playing. Eating a chocolate muffin, hearing that song play, then going to Disney, is one of my longest-lasting memories. Please drop the cover somewhere!

As a kid I was always unreasonably upset by the fact we never got to see Perry use the mecha platypus suit he has in his hideout, it's always back there on the wall ready to go and is never even referenced, I get it's not like he really needed it, Dr Doof wasn't exactly someone who was known for fighting, he once lost against a literal potted plant tied up with a string because he's just very accident prone, but other stuff could have happened, what the invasion of a robot army from another dimension didn't qualify for using the mech suit?!

I think a more likely explanation for Jimmy's hideout always changing is his lab is so advanced it rebuilds itself to whatever he's working on that episode. He has his own personal AI assistant, you think he doesn't have some GLADoS levels of automation down there? The lab rearranges itself for maximum efficiency.

That Bueno Nacho looking building at the end is a VOR, which provides local aircraft navigational services. So you nailed it, way to go!

“Out of the Box” was my secret hideout spiritual awakening too! 😂 Singing the song at the end gave me such a warm feeling. The only other children’s secret hideout from tv that I can think of at the top of my head was “Dexters Lab”. If we talk about animated children’s movies I also instantly think of is the tree from “Peter Pan” and the lab from “Emperors New Groove”. A desire for secret hideouts is just ingrained in us isn’t it. Lovely video Scott.

When I was growing up, there was this really cool tree in the garden portion of my back yard of the house I grew up. It’s kinda hard describe it but it was very low to the ground and the branches and leaves spread around it like a little cave almost. My best friend and I loved hanging out inside that tree. It was our special little hide out.

I was the lone person at a dry goods warehouse on weekends, I had one delivery each day and had long 10 hour shifts, I would often hide one pallet of boxes stakes 2 high in the middle of pallets staked 3 high and take a nap in the middle. Those were good times!

Before watching this I was having the most exhausting day of running around, doing errands, going to appointments, just stressful adult stuff. I turned it on and within 2 minutes had to pause it, make myself a fort, and then continue watching from inside my fort. Scott, I think you saved my sanity today dude! 10/10, I needed a fort in my life today.

I still dream about the Hey Arnold fort kids built in the junk yard to hide from the 5th graders. It was so cool, with multiple secret doors of course. Congrats on the new family member! ♥️ Wishing you all health and happiness

As a kid I always figured Jimmy Neutron paid for his hide out with science lol. Theres a scene in the movie where Jimmy makes diamond earrings and a pearl necklace in like two minutes. You could sell a couple of those everyday and bam money. I don't know it made sense to eight year old me. 😂

Congrats on a 2nd baby!! Also totally agree I LOVED secret forts/hideouts. Especially the whole bigger on the inside type.. which now that I think about it was a reason why I loved Doctor Who when I got older. The TARDIS is so cool!!

Another great hideout - from an oldie, so bear with me - is the tree from Disney's Gummi Bears (a show from ~the 80s, if I remember right). They had a whole underground tunnel system & rollercoaster, a lake skylight, and lore scattered throughout. It was an awesome show to grow-up on!
