I used to date someone who has since turned onto a Disney adult. Her obsession is to the point that it's worrying. When she meets "rare" costume characters she weeps from happiness. Seriously. She goes down to Florida every couple of months by herself to visit Disney World. We live in Wisconsin. She is terrified of flying and has a panic attack every time, but she NEEDS to go. She did the Disney half marathon recently even though she has bad knees. She had to because the rare costume characters were waiting at the end to congratulate her. She is still in physical therapy for what she did to her knees. She is not wealthy. No way is she not using credit cards to do it. She's 42. It's just wild to me. ETA all of her tattoos that include words are in the Disney font.

My college/shortly after college ex came from a Disney family. His mom had a Disney shirt/outfit for everything including what she referred to as “classy Mickey” for formal events such as weddings (including being the mother of the bride), funerals, showers, and special events. Their family took a yearly trip to Disney. My ex dragged me to Disney once after we had been together out of college for a couple years and it was the straw that broke me. A kid dumped an entire smoothie down my leg and into my shoe and we still spent another 10 hours in the park. We only took one “adult” trip during our multi year relationship and I remember saying “isn’t this fun? We can do this as we get older” and he said “no, we will take Disney trips with our family”. Now as an adult he has mad love for Disney, and yes, his home is filled with very tacky Disney decor, but he’s got those four VHS tapes sitting on his mantle. I really hope you get to feel it one day bc I’m neurodivergent & personally I feel like I’m losing my ability to have special interests like that as I grow up & id give anything to hyperfixate like I used to. like learning every dinosaur fact as a kid & watching Jurassic park 200 times without any self restriction felt so freeing. I guess the downside though is that people around you won’t be as into it so it’s a little alienating/depressing especially when you become aware of how little other people care about the things you do (even if they aren’t outright shitting on you for it, if they’re not into something you can’t blame them either). I guess at some point it just gets to you even with the whole ‘fuck what everyone else thinks !! be who you wanna be !!whatever don’t care don’t give shit’ thing. anyways yeah it’s a cool feeling & it makes me feel alive

Wow. This entire comment thread is very eye opening. I myself am an intense Marvel/MCU fan. I've been feeling a little alienated lately by people who don't like Marvel and other things I'm into like I do. It's really comforting to know that there's a word for it and that once I'm an adult I can still love these things. Excited to do more research, thanks!
@iampomegranates3 жыл бұрын
@@percabethisawesome1163 I’ve felt the same way about growing out of hyper fixations, but I’ve also found some new ways you can appreciate things as an adult. One of mine is The Beatles, so I listened to a related podcast while going on long walks and listen to their music in between breaks. If you make money you have more freedom to buy things you couldn’t buy before in relation to it. I’m also at a maturity level that I’m able to focus on some of the more complex aspects of their history. It’s different from when you’re a kid but it can still be just as fun in its own different way.

This is actually not true. Redbubble removed a shirt copied from the Loki comics because they were concerned it interfered with Disney’s trademark rights, which is would. Disney doesn’t own Loki, but they do own their interpretation of the character and his appearance in the media they produce. Also Disney didn’t even take down that specific shirt anyway, it was the website.

But the trick is need you to be a CA resident. I would go home from work, and eat dinner and instead of going out to the mall or something my friends would meet up at the parks.
