so beautiful. In 2019 there was a amazing exhibition in Lucerne, Switzerland. ‚The Sea and the Alps’. To stand there and see Turnerˋs wonderful work and then going outside to look at the lake, the mountains like Rigi and Pilatus was just incredible. I‘ll never forget this day. When I found your videos on youtube some time ago I was reminded of this day and of Turner‘s work. I so admire your painting and I always wanted to write this and with this gorgeous video I just had to😉Thank you so much for sharing your work. I‘m quite new to painting and aquarell painting and your work is so inspiring🌺

Hi Brigitte! That must have been an amazing exhibition! And to be in that location at the same time! So powerful! Thanks so much for the message. Good luck with your watercolour journey! I hope I can help along the way! So many beautiful sights in Switzerland! All the best. Scott

Beautiful, Scott. I marvel at how you build up those layers and it never looks muddy. And the care and precision you have for tending to the key light source…Simply beautiful.

Hi Louis! Thanks! When ever I try and paint a turner watercolour I feel like a child! He was so amazing in terms of his ability to layer and capture that beautiful first or last light!

i just discovered your channel and subscribed. the main thing i love about your channel is that you mostly paint. too many other channels involve them drawing whatever (even landscapes) and then painting. i can't draw to save my life! but you :) thank you for showing so many paintings where drawing is minimal or if present at all. this i can try to do
@ScottSwinson2 жыл бұрын
Hi Susaz! Yes I know many people will say that you have to be able to draw before you can paint and that applies if you want to paint architectural things or anything with quite a bit of detail. if you want to paint light and form and tone etc. I don't think you need to draw at all. You can just paint! Enjoy! Warm wishes Scott

Wow. Supersonic painting.... Lovely end result, especially considering the size of it. I really struggle with dropping down in size by a large amount. The scale is all over the place, and out of habit, I grab the wrong brush first, and start painting without a second through. And have a fist full of disasters to look at, and hopefully learn by...lol

I know! I have been doing a few A5 size paintings recently but the first few felt very strange! quite restrictive! and yes it was at x4 speed! lol. I don't not many time lapse videos these days but the whole house has covid at the moment and so I grabbed a video I made for patreon and then turned it into this! will be back to normal videos next week!

I really hope you all get through covid quickly and easily. Sorry your suffering. My wife and daughter had it in a small house of 6 people, and nobody else was affected. My next door neighbour has had 3 jabs, and has caught it bad twice. I can't understand it. Anyway, you get well real fast.

Those layers are beautiful and the light was gorgeous! So, I tried to do a loose once....once again.....sky, just above 🤷🏼♀️ and the sea more of a🤦🏼♀️ so....I have more layering to do, especially on the sea...I will also add some rocks or land and darken the land I do have, so, yea, I dunno. I but this time I had a much harder time with the blending of edges. And got some odd marks because even my softest brush (not a hake or kolinsky as I can't get new brushes right now) kept leaving those little streaks ot lines when the bristles start to clump a bit...but to keep them from that it had to be wetter then was good for blending. I was just wondering if you had any tips to deal with that :) Thanks as always for sharing your process :) Hope you and your family are well!!

Hi! Sorry for the delay! I think the best thing to do in terms of edges is to use a soft brush. If you don’t have already you can get pretty cheap synthetic sables. I would try and get hold of something like that. 👍👍

Love watching you make such watercolour magic, Scott! I was wondering…..the small bowls you use for the different colours and mixtures…..do you mix a colour from the tube with water in the bowl before you start? Or do you put undiluted paint straight from the tube into a bowl and just dip a wetted or damp brush into that undiluted paint when you want to use that colour? I realise that when you need a mixture like cobalt blue and light red using a bowl is very practical……but just wondering about the other colours when you don’t need a mixture? Sorry for such a rambling question, but thanks in advance if you can make sense of it and answer 🤗

Hi Sue! Sorry for the delay! I use squeezed out paint into the bowl then I add some water with my spray bottle to thin it down to a consistency I want then I paint away. Once I am finished I let the bowl dry out and then before my next painting session I just spray on water over the top a very thin layer, let it sit on top for an hour then mix it all up into a wash again ready to use. I really like painting in this way. Hope that helps! Cheers Scott

@@ScottSwinson thats a great help! Many thanks Scott! I hope one day to be half as good a painter as you…..but I will definitely be a loose, wet on wet sea and landscape artist…..and that’s all thanks to you x
