So beautiful Lena!! I love how you just knew you weren't happy with the bottom and were just so brave and wiped it up and made it even more beautiful!! I have to be more brave!!! I worry about messing things up more and wasting paper and paint...but its wasted if I don't love it or use it and that's what I need to remember :) I just got your answer on another video of yours about looking for cellulose paper and carton you said. Is that this that you're using here. Though it says cardboard, but I assume a certain kind. Its amazing how wet you can get it with no buckling at all and it stays wet and movable...just amazing!!! Thanks again for all your help and your beautiful videos of your gorgeous art!!

Do you have an image in your mind before you start a painting? Or do you just feel it and it takes on its own form and reveals it as you progress?

It's very different. Sometimes I take it like an adventure - other times I know exactly how I want the result to be. The water stream is leading the colours!

The paper is very cheap acidfree cardboard 700 g and not made for watercolour. But you can easily use cold pressed watercolour paper 300 g.

I've just recently stumbled on this work and have watched quite a few now. I'm fascinated by the technique and I love the results. Could I ask please: how come the paper buckles so little, with so much water applied and without pre-stretching? Edit: just caught the mention of 'cardboard' and of 'clay coated paper'. Further question then: are these recognised watercolour supplies or do you utilise materials intended for other use?

Thank you for your interest. The cardboard is not ment for watercolour painting. When I finish the paintings I supply 3 layers of Aquarell-Fixativ to make the colour stick to the cardboard.

one of the things ive noticed with this style of painting ,i call it,,,, shape shifting ,,,in the video ,theres quite a lot missing ,maybe key points to the painting,,also some parts of the canvas needs to be quite dry to hold the paint ,,,but its very skillfull,,, well done ,,,

Jeg bruger almindeligt skiltekarton, men det SKAL være syrefrit. Det har en glittet overflade (jeg har læst et sted, at det hedder clay coated, men måske er det en forkert oversættelse!?) Det kan være helt ned til 300 gr. pr. m2. Daler Rooneys blokke kan jeg godt lide: Watercolour Paper 300g/m2, cold pressed A3.
