I just bought SLX-D35G, 2 sets and an extra receiver. This thing is flawless, I haven't seen many reviews out there, I'm glad I ran into this video. I already own an SLX-D Mic and body pack, so this is a great addition to that. I do recommend running the receivers and transmitters with power, as I found AA batteries will last 2-3 hours tops.

@@ScottUhlMusic Its possible, I've only used it once. But I did read somewhere that the further the distance, the faster the battery would drain. I may order the 903's, those seem to last long on my mic.

Great video Scott!! Just like everyone else, blow away at the clarity and sheer in-depth explanation of your content. Simply amazing! So you are telling me, this portable system can run 3 transmitters (as per your example)? I am a DJ, so I can see having this for a wedding ceremony (maybe to second dual one for my reception setup), but the SLXD portable system to run maybe 2 lavs and a wireless microphone? I just wanted to make sure I got that! Again, mind blown if so, and appreciate all the great advice and info! Learning sooooo much more! Thanks sir!

Replay!!! Just subscribed to your channel! Another great video! Your thoroughness, use of visuals, and depth of information is appreciated. This system is a silent gem in my opinion for needing reliable wireless while traveling, being battery powered, and can see this being perfect for wireless speakers. I have the OG UR5’s in H4 band that are still rock solid. However, I can’t see investing in the Axient ADX5D for wireless speakers or needing a channel or two of wireless off the cuff. The feature set in this is very good and can see it being very valuable having a couple of these systems in my travel bag at all times.

This is the WEIRDEST question probably, but you know how those K-pop and J-pop idols have the little tiny mics coming from their ears? are those actually plugged into their IEM's? If so, how good are those really? I am looking for something as minimalistic as possible. I am just a streamer so I am in a bedroom that's not really treated, there's no band or anything, I'll be moving around a bunch in a green suit all chromad out. I wanted to go to a lavalier but my beard is too big, I have an sm7b but it's not good when you're more than a foot away, and my boom mic is...well it's a boom mic in an untreated bedroom. Do I even have any options outside of heavily EQing something? P.S. love the channel, I just found it and I am recommending it to all my peeps. Videos are amazing so keep it up!

You are the only good source mentioning this system to be used for guitar wireless… how would you compare it with the GLXD16+? I am close to pull the trigger… both have a great form factor, but I am worried that this one is mainly for mics and somewhat will not do as great as a dedicated system for guitars/instruments
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic 13 күн бұрын
Thanks! And this one is the one I use, but it does output at line level or mic level. So if you go into something expecting instrument level you might get issues, but some people don’t even notice. I go direct or into a HX Stomp and I set the input to line so it’s no problem for sure. This will be more reliable than GLXD+ but the + model is both 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz which is really nice. Both are great. Slxd is a better model though 🤘

Hey!! Came here as I JUST gigged a show with the glxd16+ and couldn’t move more than 7 feet from it without getting audio flicker / interference! Re-sync’d on group 1 and SAME issue. Couldn’t resolve it…moved it away from our router etc…only thing I didn’t try was group “2” which is best for multichannel when having interference….at the end of the day I’m sure the glxd16+ will be great for most, but it just takes one time and the SLXD setup is only $100 more!

Great video once again Scott. Do you happen to know if I can use one transmitter and send that signal out to multiple receivers? Hoping to have the transmitter come out from my DJ mixer, then have one receiver in one part of a field, and have a 2nd receiver in another part of the field. Receivers would be about 100' away from the transmitter and about 200' away from each other....

Awesome video as always. I can't understand one thing: this product doesn't really seem designed for instrument signals since it has options to send out line and mic signals only. So can I really use this with an electric guitar to go direct into a pedalboard, a modeler or an analog amp without having, for example, impedance issues? Can you explain how to set the device to be used in this specific scenario, please? (Also the Sennheiser EW-DP seems to be the same product as this, and I have the same doubt as well... non completely sure it can also be used with instrument signals.)

Hi, Scott! Per usual, great content! …had my eye on the SLXD35 as a mini portable/travel IEM set up (XLR plug on transmitter + body pack receiver). I contacted Shure directly to inquire about specs on the system so that I could check its adaptability for my intended purpose, they tried to steer me along to their PSM300 IEM system (I already own two PSM900 IEM systems, I’m not interested in another half-rack IEM solution, especially a model LOWER than what I already own 🤨😆 ). Have you tried using the plug on XLR transmitter (SLXD3) + body pack receiver (SLXD5) as an IEM system?
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic 5 ай бұрын
Thanks! I would agree that you shouldn’t really use it for an IEM system, since that’s not really what it’s for. You would want a way to turn up or down the volume easily on the receiver, which I guess you could do with that buttons mode thing. So it would work, but that’s not the ideal way to use it

Thanks for the speedy response, Scott! Another great video! I've been trying to figure out a portable wireless setup for myself. I'm a trombone player who plays ringer for a lot of bands where I just show up to an xlr line from the board and some less than well mixed floor wedges. I can't always guarantee I'll have access to power (sometimes I show up to a rats nest of extension cables and surge protectors that are full up or too far away from where I get put) but love being able to go wireless. Having a super small battery powered wireless system seems perfect for my needs. You were happy with the audio quality? Is there any reason to think that this system would not work well for brass?

I’m looking to buy a Shure wireless system and vacillate between the SLX-D and GLX-D+. It’s for community theatre (200 seat venue) soloists in choir (typical church hall venues) and possibly in my rock band, though we manage fine with wired for small pub stages. I’d go straight for the SLX but I’m in the UK and there are licensing requirements for the SLX-D frequencies and no licensing requirements for the 2.4ghz of the GLX-D+. I’m planning on starting with one mic, growing to a max of three as funds allow. So, small numbers of mics, small venues … would the GLX-D+ be a reasonable bet to avoid having to manage an annual license fee for the SLX-D ?
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic 5 ай бұрын
The SLXD is a better overall system, but the GLXD+ is also a good option. I have videos on both. With The GLXD+, just make sure you don’t have a bunch of wireless already on 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz. Slxd is going to be more reliable overall, but both are great systems
@MandyFlame

@@ScottUhlMusic I haven’t been able to find your video on the GLX-D+. Meanwhile I came across the Sennheiser EW-D 835-S which has a version in the UK that operates on 863-865mhz, which is license exempt. Seems to check all boxes: digital, not on 2.4Ghz, no license required. I’m not familiar with the 835/935 mics but seem pretty comparable to SM58 / Beta58. Probably because Sennheiser are European they are more aware of the license requirements by country than the American Shure. The EW-D seems a digital version of the EW-100 you review favorably
