I have a smaller 1.5 kg graple anchor. Do you think that it will be enough to keep my boat from moving or should I get a bigger anchor?
@DavidPhamChannel2 жыл бұрын
It depend on many factors. How big if your boat? Wind conditions? Most importantly what kind of substrate is there at the bottom of the lake/ocean? Grapler anchors are meant to cling on to rocky bottoms so they don't need much weight. If you are boating in an area with sandy or muddy bottom the grapler anchor will not hold. I use a grapler anchor myself but its pretty heavy plus i have a chain on it. I boat in a variety of areas and find this setup pretty universal.

@@DavidPhamChannel yeah I have a chain on my grappler that’s being used on my seahawk 4, my lake has patches of rock and sand but based on what you are saying I think I might upgrade to a bigger and better anchor. Thanks for your help

What position on the boat do you recommend putting the anchor system? in front, side, back? Thanks
@DavidPhamChannel2 жыл бұрын
Front, the boat will have less drag when anchored thus keeping you in place better.

Hiw many feet of rope and what diameter? Thanks
@DavidPhamChannel Жыл бұрын
I don't quite recall, 30 feet in length maybe, not sure on the diameter.

Do you remove it to fold up
@DavidPhamChannel2 жыл бұрын
The anchor assembly comes off but the patch/mount stays on. Folding the boat with the patch and mount isn't any different than without, its pretty small.

Really helpful, thanks! Would a 15 lb anchor be too heavy?
@DavidPhamChannel3 жыл бұрын
Really depends on the lake bottom material, type of anchor and boat size.
@bert31953 жыл бұрын
@@DavidPhamChannel I mean for the mount. Would it be too heavy for the glue?
@DavidPhamChannel3 жыл бұрын
@@bert3195 I really dont know, i m using a 10lb one myself and its totally fine. Since its the same glue they are using for the handles on the boat i would imagine it to be ok since the handles are meant to support the weight of these boats (~100 lbs).
@bert31953 жыл бұрын
@@DavidPhamChannel Where did you get the glue? Seems to be pretty hard to find the glue Scotty recommends in Calgary.

Which PVC Glue do you recommend ??
@DavidPhamChannel3 жыл бұрын
Sorry can't recommend any, had my local shop install the patch.
@flypike222 жыл бұрын
Bad idea. The anchor/rope rubs against the boat. The rope is run too close to the pontoon. The PVC material will quickly get damaged. Great example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZmUmZKdhrGGjtE

Good video, so far I haven't noticed any wear on the boat but I probably don't use the boat as much as id like. Definitely something to consider
