If he's an actual mechanic he wouldn't recommend Accords of that gen. Those are notoriously easily rusting cars. One of the worst, only behind old Mazdas. But to be fair, if you are buying cars for 400 dollars, then anything that goes forward with bald tires is probably "fine". The only good card of that car is engine and maybe transmission, the rest aren't so great. Also as European, I can't even call it economical, because old big petrol NA engines like in Accord guzzle gas.

In the Netherlands you get broke when driving a grand marquee. Roadtax is about 1300 dollar per year. Gasoline is about 8 dollar the gallon....
@HamburgerHelperDeath
@HamburgerHelperDeath Жыл бұрын
I’m in the Midwest of the US. Road tax here is based on the car year so newer is more expensive. I drive a 2006 Lexus ES330. Because it’s a 2006, my annual taxes to renew my license plate tags is $90. The Grand Marquee would be cheap too due to its age. Auto insurance is $65 per month. My ES can also run on regular unleaded which currently is around $3.48 a gallon (3.8 liters). Luckily the Lexus doesn’t usually have any issues! Is Road tax in the Netherlands based on engine size or something?

Technically speaking I bought my 2007 Honda Accord Sedan 5 speed manual for $1,500 last year. I still drive it but I am saving up to buy my dream car hopefully this year. So as far as I know my car isn't the most fanciest car in the world but it's the best first standard vehicle I ever owned that actually runs and drives. Despite that one time when I had to pay over a little over $2,000 for new OEM parts for my car to make sure it runs and drives properly. Other than that I treat my car with respect so that way when I buy my dream car, it'll make me appreciate my dream car even more by the time I sell my current car to either my dad or someone else.

My former 2005 Scion (Toyota) Xb had over 300K miles on it. I only stopped driving it because of emissions codes popping up after I thought I had fixed the issues and the alternator needing to be replaced. I just didn't want to bother with it and junked it. I definitely feel the Honda paint pain. Mine is an 05 civic SI made in England with fading paint. So embarrassing, but definitely a cool car. I’m going to repaint it with the original OEM blue. I think Honda finally changed their painting process to last as long as other vehicles, but only after decades of selling people cars that were totally flaking within five years of ownership. I want one of those big land yachts for my trip to work since I work 60 miles from home. My SI needs a break, it was not made for that kind of thing. Especially if I hit traffic and have to shift constantly for three straight miles of bumper-to-bumper crap. I learned how to drive a standard on this car way back in 2010, and I never had to replace my clutch until after I started working far away. There is a very steep bridge that crosses the Mississippi River, it’s always backed up on that bridge. I hate driving up the incline stop and go stop and go with a semi on my back forcing me to shift and move ahead in 6 foot increments. It’s a huge waste of clutch life 😒

That's what I never understood about some people. Get massive loan on expensive car just to go to work to pay it off. Bruh. My 05 Suzuki Swift I've had for past 6 years been super reliable. Not fast. Paint showing its age now but still reasonably tidy. Small car good on gas, cheap maintenance.. saves me money for my weekend car.

I currently have a 2010 toyota yaris sedan with 640K+ miles. All original engine ang transmission. It was a fleet car of pharmacy I work for. I bought it in 2015 for $275.00 only with 342K miles on it already. It's my daily working car. Engine runs smooth as if not running. Very well maintained car, I love my yaris though it has small 1.5 engine. Slow on acceleration from stop but once it gets going, it gets going.

Got my 95 grand marquis for $800. Had it for 4 years now. It was burning oil too, but with regular maintenance it stopped burning it!

I bought a Grand Marquis last winter from some old lady who got her license revoked for some sort of age-related condition, for a little over 4K. 2004 with 99K on it. It was maintained pretty well, but needed new oil, tires, and some small stuff like a washer pump and an AC recharge. Aside from that, I did nothing major aside from changing/flushing all the fluids, power steering hoses, a few gaskets, battery, new belt, headlights.. that's about it. It's been reliable and hasn't let me down yet. Passed emissions test with flying colors and runs fantastic. I don't think you can find a more reliable vehicle in that price range. The Grand Marquis is also the best choice of the Panther platform cars, because the CVs were likely a police or fleet car that was idled tens of thousands of hours and driven hard and abused, and the Towncars were livery cars and suffered the same fate in addition to God knows how many people vomiting in them.
