There's a reason why Mazda came out of nowhere and became #1 in predicted reliability for two years in a row. Their build quality has massively improved ever since they broke ties with Ford in 2012. Mazda's suspension tuning and attention to detail are second to none in this price range.
@redrum38352 жыл бұрын
People don't understand that there suspension is made the road not made for a track like the stiffer suspensions. I drive over Train tracks crossings, roughed up gravel roads and watch the other cars drivers think about Mazda differently. If I can get it through Canada before 200-225k miles, that alone also would be an extraordinary travel milestone for such a car. Glad to see some mazda love! I bought my first mazda not long ago. It's a 17 mazda 6 grand touring and it's been a great car! Handles well and looks fantastic and comfortable! My mother inlaws 16 camry handles like a boat compared to the mazda. I added a stainless racing beat exhaust system and an MV tuning rear diffuser, looks so nice!!!! Hope you had a merry Christmas Scotty! All the best in 23'! My mom has a 99 miata with a 5 speed manual, has 70k miles, great lil car! She had a early 90's miata also with a 5 speed manual and kt to was a great lil car, when traded in it still looked nearly new!! Only issue for me is they're small, I'm 6'2 and when I sit in my moms 99 miata I'm looking at the top of the windshield frame, need 2 duck dwn to see...lmao!! One great thing about my mazda 6 is it doesn't use any oil, my previous 2008 honda accord coupe would use 1 to 2 qts between changes and had only 110k miles on it. It was a 5 speed stick and was fun 2 drive and handled well, just used oil which is a known problem with that particular engine and honda claims it's normal 🤔...ahh no it's not!!!! Rock on Scotty!!!

For anyone looking at a CX-5 make sure it's not one prone to cracked heads....unless it already had an updated cylinder head installed. Also since 2018 Mazda has been installing defective "coolant control valves"...part number ends in Z. ZA is the fixed version. That's basically a $450 thermostat, plus $200-300 for labor to replace the defective one when it fails. Look up all the TSBs for engine code P0126. Mazda went from a $10 metallic mechanical thermostat with one failure point to a $450 plastic coolant valve with multiple failure points that's a major project to replace. They're still installing the defective valve on 2023 models as a family member found out.

Was the 2023 fixed under warranty?
@badcrcz8 ай бұрын
@@toddsmith1617 Yes, believe it or not Mazda's powertrain warranty covers it...but if it's out of warranty expect to spend $700+.
@badcrcz8 ай бұрын
@@toddsmith1617 I couldn't find anything about the 2024, but it was still being installed on the 2023. I didn't see any posts about a 2024 with the issue. My theory is Mazda was using up old inventory since that's an expensive part and they probably hoped a good percentage of them wouldn't have an issue. I don't see how that's possible since one of the TSBs states the coolant would get trapped in a pocket or something and it would make the sensor think the coolant was warmer than it actually was so it would leave the thermostat open. Basically the defect just makes your engine run too cold, which isn't an immediate issue, but it's not good to run it that way for a long time.

The CCV went out on my 21 throwing that code. Tried to get a good faith repair but since the autozone tech accidentally cleared the code, Mazda couldn’t do it. Went to a 2024 and haven’t looked back.

Our family currently has 4 Mazdas; 2010 CX9, 2016 MAZDA 3 HATCHBACK , 2017 CX5 AND a 2017 MAZDA 6. All of them have been Uber reliable and range in mileage as of today from 170K to 74K. Both my adult kids chose Mazdas as their car of choice after college graduations and I gave them their choice of any Asian branded automobile. They both chose Mazdas, independently. We joke that we should do a Mazda commercial with the family and all of our models. They still need a hybrid, desperately to be taken seriously by a lot of buyers, but I am sold on their build quality and overall reliability! Also, since 2010, and after dozens of service appointments , I’ve only been treated unfairly one time by the Mazda Dealers service department in Marietta Ga.

In 2014 I bought a 2010 Mazda 3 Sport Hatch, and I'm still driving it. I bought it with the intention of giving it to my daughter after a few years when she got old enough to drive. I decided to keep it and gave her another car, lol. I am now a converted Mazda fan, what a great car it has been. It is getting time to replace it so I'm starting to shop around. I will likely buy used, I've just recently had to purchase a new car for my wife and replace my other daughter's car, so not interested in taking on yet another car payment. I really like what Mazda has done over the last few years. The CX-5 has been the same for years with only minor annual updates, which helps its reliability. I would get an MX-5 in a heartbeat if it was at all practical. I've driven the CX-5 and I'm impressed. I rented a RAV-4 last year for a week for a long trip and ... meh. I know the RAV4 outsells Mazda by a mile but side by side, disregarding factors like resale value and the name on the car, the CX-5 is more refined and fun to drive. I might give the newer Mazda 3 a test drive, I've read good things, my concern only being that my needs have outgrown the small car segment. I wish they had kept the Mazda 6 in their US lineup but will take a look at the used car market.

I went in the Marine Corps and had to sell it. Traded it in for a Mazda 3 with a 2.5 but a manual, very good deal on that even after the trade in. Also very reliable. But the Mazda 3 is made in Mexico and the CX5 was made in Japan. All the problems I’ve have are all related to the Mexico model. Seat covers came off, clutch wasn’t bled right at factory, some shoddy built quality issues (I get it’s a economy car but still there were scratches here and there on interior from the factory CarPlay retrofit done off the assembly line and it had 3 miles on it when I bought it) and the every recall was only for models made in Mexico.

So I got to compare the Ford built Gen 2 with the Japan built Gen 3. It's a noticeable upward shift in quality and reliabilty. The Gen 2 had panels popping in here and sticking there.
