Toyota is the most “American” made vehicle there is. Just about the only thing that is NOT made in America is the electronics. I worked at the Tundra plant in San Antonio and the vehicle started out as a roll of sheet metal in the morning and rolled out as a complete truck by the end of shift. We had 23 suppliers on “campus” who supplied everything except the electronics and the frame was made in Mexico. Toyota has more plants in the US than Chevy, Ford and Chrysler combined. That’s the failure of the American automaker not keeping up with the demand of changing vehicles. The US automaker has resisted changing cars since the 60’s. Even though Americans were buying economy smaller cars, American automakers were making the biggest cars on the road.

Only ever did wheel bearings and suspension parts around 200k. I also see tons of them on the road so they must not be that bad. I've heard about the Rev up motors burning oil but mine never burned oil just leaked a little out the valve cover after 200k+ miles. VQ engines are damn near bulletproof. The problem is most ppl who own them beat the crap out of them and don't maintain them. Can't wait till I find an Infiniti q70 5.6 v8 💪

My main worry about hybrid cars is the battery in them. I also worry about long-term functionality as living in the upper Midwest it gets very hot and humid in summers and very cold and dry in winters. The howling winds of the frozen Great Plains make for adverse conditions for vehicle ownership, yet one is absolutely necessary. I think the issue is over-regulation. Mandated requirements (ex fuel economy) and things ya don't really need (back-up cameras) make for expensive cars you can't work on yourself. I miss the C/K 1500 trucks of yore.

Sad to hear about Nissan. They used to be pretty good cars. I had 2004 Nissan Sentra SER Spec-V. It was one of the best cars I ever owned. I bought it in 2012 for $2300. It had 130k miles on it when I got it. Right when I got it, I sold the factory wheels and tires, which paid for a deal I scored on some 19" polished alloy wheels with tires. I even had $100 left over from the wheel tire upgrade. I drove it for three years, put 60k additional miles on it. It never had any issues at all. Just regular maintenance, oil changes, tires, and breaks. Then, I sold the car 3 years later for $2500. I would have kept it, but I moved to Vietnam. I didn't have any place to store it. Ive owned 14 cars in my lifetime. This 2004 Nissan Sentra SER Spec-V, my 2005 Honda S2000, and my 1995 Corolla I had in college were by far the most reliable cars I've owned.

American cars just aren’t popular in Europe apart from Teslas. I see a few muscle cars, mustangs and such, but there aren’t dealer networks so it’s more an enthusiast thing. I don’t think tarrifs have much to do with it, there just isn’t any advantage, US made cars aren’t cheaper or better and Europeans tend to favour smaller, sportier styles, BMW, Mercedes etc. I drive a Mazda CX 30 but it is a quire different configuration to the ones sold in the US.

Even with low tariffs, European-made is cheaper than US-made. 😂

Good job America!!! Ya'll voted for him. Get ready for an expensive 4 years and hopefully that's it.

Simple solution. Don’t buy a car for the next four years until Trump is no longer President. Oh, that won’t work, as he intends to remain President for life.

The US military takes an oath to the constitution, not a president. The military will remove him if he tries to stay beyond term.

I agree with you, but these crooked politicians will say you can't own a vehicle older than 10 years old.

Let me get this straight. We put a man on the moon over 50 years ago and we still can't make a car as good as Japan ?

Didn't we already go through something like this before? VW's were made in or delivered to Mexico. Final assembly was completed in Texas, installing headlights and trim, a radio and antenna. That simple step was claimed as the final assembly and therefore "made in America". ha ha. We can do this again.

It don’t matter where the car is assembled, rather, HOW they are assembled and WHAT they are assembled with. Both my Hondas are strong running Classics that weren’t made in America. I have a 96 Civic LX & 2000 S2000

The question I ask is why do they spec them all to S models. When they arent sports cars, then they have to be insured as a Sports Luxury.

I work in the auto industry. It would take 10+ years for this to even remotely have a chance of happening. Trump only has 4.
