Fabulous video yet again! I take my 3 sheep dogs camping with me quiet a lot, my best advice would be ensure they are happy sleeping outside in their familiar environment (home etc) once they are comfortable sleeping outside with the noises of the back yard will make it a lot easier to translate to outside in unfamiliar environments. Top job! Keep up the hard work!

Aw! I love this! I take my heeler everywhere, shes the best camping buddy. We love it 😀 when she has trouble settling in an area, which sometimes happens, even now, i put her on a short line to a ground peg by her mat, with food and water, where im sitting for a bout an hour. Then just clip her to a running line. It works really well and keeps her calm in camp 😀

Just keep bringing him with you on a Regular basis. Day 2 wandering around he was already feeling more comfortable because his tail was up. Day 1 it was down the whole time. He's a cool dog! As far as that tent goes...consider just using a larger tarp with a bug room under it. Zero condensation, can lower or raise the tarp depending on weather, plus an all around drier area if it is raining.

What a nice camping trip for you and Banjo. He's very alert, so all the different sounds and smells will stimulate him. Having a young dog is a little like having young child. Scotty. I take my vizsla hunting in the NZ bush and he does get cold. At night around camp I've got him a Swandri woolen dog jacket. For bed, a Thermarest insulated rubber mat, and I cut the arms off an old puffer jacket and zip him up in that. A hooded puffer would be even better. If the pup wants to snuggle, what you can do is pack a section of tyvek, super light and put it over your air mattress to stop him puncturing it. I haven't had a problem, but I do keep his nails down and smooth prior to trips. Hope that helps.

What a great adventure for you both! These memories will last a lifetime and in many years from now when Banjo has crossed that rainbow bridge you'll have this video to watch. My last dog, a Boston Terrier, was my hiking and camping buddy. Sadly, she passed away a few years ago and I had doubts that I would ever get another dog. Then someone tipped me off to a Frenchy in need of a special home to rescue him. I now have a new hiking buddy and boy does he love to hike! Haven't taken him camping as yet, but that's planned for the near future. I think it's a great idea to keep Banjo tethered when in the back country. It only takes a second for him to take off after some critter and get lost out there. I took Rex to my usual camping place to do some work and let Rex roam around as we was staying right with me. A couple minutes later I looked up from what I had been doing and he was nowhere to be seen and repeated calls went unanswered. I was in a panic. Fortunately, I keep a box of dog treats with me and began shaking that box as I wandered about the woodland and in no time Rex came running at full speed to get a treat. Now, he stays tethered when I'm out in the woods.

Hey mate. I got 3 years old kelpie and took him to road trip from Melbourne to Alice Springs for 3 weeks. We were camping the whole time and my boy never really settled throughout the trip. He either was sleeping because he was absolutely flat out tired from being all alerted or being alerted the whole night. Maybe it is just kelpie being kelpie😮. I thought to myself never go camping again with him but if you can get your boy to settle down and enjoy being in the wild, maybe I get to think again and try again. Hope you succeed. I will be watching closely mate. Wish you the best and see you in next video!!!! Cheers

Hey mate. Just a wee guess from another doggy guy. Banjo is a working dog type, so he prob won't switch off with that harness on. If you're worried about him running, put a choke lead on him in that running line. But again with him being a working type he probably won't leave you that easy. If you can get a harness with panniers it will help give him a sense of work when you're walking too. But practice make perfect as you figured yourself. The more you do it the more he'll chill. In my opinion dogs have been doing this with us for thousands of years, so they can go anywhere with us. Thanks for your videos Scotty!!!

I used to go camping with my blue heeler. He was a good boy. Never went out of sight, and if he got too far a return whistle would bring him bounding back. At night staring at the "bush telly" he'd lie right next to me and never wander off. I think he was afraid of the dark. Big wuss. :) He'd sleep in the tent with me, snuggled up, it was just a cheapo bog standard 2-man A-frame. None of this fancy crap back then. :) He didn't often want to go out, maybe once a night, but he'd just look at the door and whine. And I usually needed to go too, so it was all good. :) Hope you have many more adventures with your new best mate!

With the hex peak you can try setting the pole length higher (140cm+) and lengthening the guy lines so that it sits 10cm off the ground. Plenty of air flow to minimise condensation and extra room too. That said it will still be a bit small for anyone over 6’ and the XL is a better choice for taller people.

Scotty, your cooking has really come up a few notches, great to see you out with Banjo too. I was one of the commenters from your last Banjo trip videos to mention the ridge line setup for Banjo. Tips: 1 - Raise the ridge line as high as you can, 3 - 5 meters if you can, 2 - attach a crabiner and (retractable leash) to the ridge line before raising the second end as high as you can. 3 - Attach the retractable leash clip to something accessible when not attached to Banjo because it may retract too high to the ridge line. This should reduce the tangle ups that Banjo is having and reduce camera tipping. He seems much more familiar and comfortable since the last trip, he's a good boy, he will learn. You live in such a beautiful country and you show it off well Scotty, Australia is definitely on my bucket list of places to visit. Keep up the awesome videos, and cheers from British Columbia, Canada
