Honestly, an Ender 3 is like having a tuner car. Sure, it works out of the box, but part of the experience is tinkering and making it your own. Which makes it an excellent machine to learn the hobby on.

2:20 I fell like this might be a bad idea since that liquid can cool things down to -40 deg which would introduce a huge amount of stress on a heated glass panel and it might shatter. Also, given what we know about tempered glass, it would just become a million pieces and be extremely annoying to clean up. For me, I just flipped the glass bed over and used the side without the coating. It would cause bed adhesion problem but I get away by setting the bed temp higher.

For nylon, I love using the flex plate, I have a blank whambam flexplate - and I adhere a thin sheet of garolite to it. I use that for nylon, -- just use glue stick, and 90c, and works great. For everything else, swap to the PEI coated flex plate. The magnetic surface makes swapping print surfaces super easy.

Dude I'm digging your videos and vibe. Your thoughts on modifying it regardless or the initial pricepoint is something I share as well, modding your stuff is just way too much fun and makes whatever you buy just that much more special. Looking forward to the new upgrades video!

If you need to print smooth flat surfaces use a glass bed, but turn it over with the smooth side up. I also use hair spray for good adhesion to the surface. I print small plastic panels for audio enclosures and the smooth side of the glass bed makes for a very nice and smooth appearance. I use the Creality branded one.

Rapidly cooling hot glass might cause that bed to shatter... just a warning. Although at 60-70 degrees it might not be an issue. The Ender 3 is like the Honda Civic of 3d Printers. FYI PETG parts seem to last longer also print orientation really matters.

Great video! Fun fact about the air duster trick, those actually contain refrigerant, not compressed air. When you hold it upside down it sprays out the liquid which boils off outside of the can. That's why it's so good at cooling, because the chemical is designed for that. Depending on the specific air duster the chemical may be harmful so it's worth checking your preferred brand to see what they use and read up on it. I got my Ender 3 Pro recently and it's been working great! Took about a week of tweaking and troubleshooting but I'm super happy with the outcome.

This is a rewatch reply. One thing I would say, I went with a G10 bed sheet instead of PEI after having Glass on my Ender 3 v2, yes it's not magnetic, but it's way more versitile, PETG doesn't stick to it like it would to glass while printing, meaning after printing you can easily remove the print and not mess about with gluestick or other means of adhesion to prevent print bed damage.

I personally have 6 E3Pro printers. Two of which had Creality PEI beds on them, but just recently changed back to glass beds for all. Why? PEI bed is not a rigid surface, it's like a very hard gel, but still gives when filament is pressed into it. I make prints that sometimes are assembled and need a little precision to fit together, and for me PEI couldn't do it. Glass works great for me, and if you need better adhesion, I highly recommend to cover the glass bed in painter's tape. Not glue, not hairspray.

I've been telling people this air duster/freeze spray trick for years, especially for resin prints that can stick super hard to the build surface, but you are the first youtuber I've ever seen mention it.
@jawaring43673 жыл бұрын
Also FYI for anyone with a resin printer: If you have a very large, flat bottom of your print you can also stick the whole thing in the freezer and then once its cold hold the platform and dip just the print in some hot water and it will pop off of the build platform. No more need to fear putting large flat areas on your build plate, and you can get much better adhesion while printing because of it.

You should make an upgrade video for the Ender 3 v2! I just got it and it is currently printing my first print (the benchy). I loved how you upgraded the Ender 3 pro and the and v2 seems even better. Marlin (which I guess you're using since you swapped the stock board for an SKR) usually sets the max bed temp at half the max hotend temp minus 12-15 °C. Let's say you have it at 125 max: that's still way lower than what PEI can handle. Even if you sticked to the magnetic surface it could have handled temperatures higher than 125°C. Glass is still the best idea because it's naturally rettificated (theoretically). A probe sensor and bed meshes can balance the warped bed issue, but they don't solve it.

so first its a raspberry pi 4 you put in there, no big deal about that, but here's a tip: I saw you removed the logo from the lightbar with sandpaper but it left behind some noticeable marks. next time you ant to remove paint or logos etc use acetone based nail polish-remover. it does a great job of removing things and it doesn't leave stuff behind. he aware though it may not work on every surface and may damage some plastic types but for metal etc its fine!

I had usually built my own PCs. My friends would scoff. But when they used mine it was much faster than theirs. They stopped coming over... I just decided on the Ender 3 V2 based on price, function, ratings, and availability of upgrade parts.
