1:07 Just to the left of the white parked car is the ramp where the old six-car ferry used to cross before the bridge was built. Six cars would drive on and they would rotate the base during the crossing. You can just see the ramp on the other side. I used to love this 1st of 3 ferries to the Hebrides but my dad hated the 2-hour wait during the summer. To this day I still look to the bridge with mixed feelings. Nice bridge though :-)

I saw you pass a Shearings Holidays coach earlier on in this video. I was a driver for good old Wallace Arnold back in the days when they and Shearings were rivals. (Shearings now own W. A.!!). I remember staying for 8 days in a hotel in Fort William on a coach tour when there was that awful fuel crisis and I had to find diesel wherever possible and use my own money to pay (most Shell garages had run out, we had a fuel card for them!), but one of the required day trips was all the way to Skye and back, using the bridge, wow, that was a LONG day! That was a nasty accident you encountered.

Fort William to Skye is one of my favourite drives in the world, but I can imagine that Captaining a PSV there and back in a day on that road would be exhausting!

Especially when it was your first time ever there and you have to give as much commentary en route and about the destination. However, the crowning glory is when your employers (Wallace Arnold) have the itinerary written for each passenger and say that the trip is to the Isle of Skye's beautiful capital - Broadford! When I arrived I discovered the mistake, as made clear by 2 lovely elderly sisters whose dream had always been to go to Skye, and Portree!, I had no time to continue to Portree, give them time off the coach and get back to our Fort William base! Don't you just love it!

can't help but be concerned by what looks like a lot of unsecured boxes and other luggage items in the cabin of your truck, if you had to break suddenlt they are liable to become missiles heading in your direction..........

Point taken! I have decided to invest in a roof box this year to keep the back clear. Cheers.

Typical lack of consideration by many of today's drivers at the roundabout where the traffic is stood still.
