Oh what a sad story but heartwarming and nice that you were able to pay tribute to him.

I spent quite a few nights in one of these tents nigh on fifty years ago. We used to cross the main guys forming an "X" on each side which put pressure on the ridge holding the sections firmly together. During the day the tent sides were rolled up (brailed) and the groundsheet was rolled back to "air" the grass underneath. The sacking at the bottom of the sidewalls was tucked under the groundsheet and the height was adjusted by placing the side guy pegs at the right distance from the ridge. The gaps between the door loops came in handy in the middle of the night when it was raining, but I think it's best not to go into too much detail on that. They were great tents, enjoy. All the best.

Beautiful! We used to have one of these in the 70s but my mum converted it into an inner tent for our big frame tent after she made it bigger to give more space for 4 of us children. I used to love the smell of a proper canvas tent xx

This is truly beautiful and brought me to tears. Thankyou so very much. Robert will always watch over you. Always protect you. An ex paratrooper (Para 3 Regiment) who fought in the Falklands War. Protection was his thing... Camping was too. He will enjoy the woods with you. Much love and respect. Mikal x

Oh bless, I'm so pleased you liked it. Thank you for allowing us to talk about Robert, yourself and the story of the tent. It's actually made our love of the tent that much stronger knowing some of the history. I've been there camping with my daughter this week but didn't get to film as it was just us so I was in mum mode. It's lovely to think Robert might be watching over us.

Very nice 👍 Good looking tent, which I'm sure will be looked after now, as much as it was before. Nice of Mikal to send a message 😀 Maybe it won't be long before you move to your woods full time with a setup like that 😳😂 Great camera work, and love the outtakes 😀👍

Hi! I found your video, trying to look for a real video, of the tent described in my very old scout book, "patrol leader manual". As per my book, this soft cloth that is at the bottoms of the wall, was supposed to be buried on the ground. It kind of make sense, as it would dry the water directly into the ground. Feel free to contact me if you want to have the pictures of this book. (it is in Spanish, but I'd be glad to translate for you. My respect to your family, from Argentina.

Many moons ago you had to put up one by yourself in 100 degree Plus weather. We called them 8*10 wall tents.
