Scouting for Camp, Sheltering from Wind Storm, Woodland Cook. Wiltshire Man

I hope you enjoy this video,
Today I scout out a new "None permission" woodland with the view to Wild camp here at some future point.
I used a new item of kit, a Boundless voyage camp table and was very impressed by it. A fellow youtuber called "Tank" has made a review video so if your looking for a nice small camp table please check out Tanks video.

Nice to see you again and feeling better! If you know where the land owner lives, you should go and simply ask. Tell him to watch some of your videos so he can see how you take care of the woodlands when you camp. Could be enough to where you get permission to wild camp there - worth a try. Litter is an ever present feature of our modern world. Its so depressing to visit what you expect to be a beautiful location only to find litter everywhere. I live in Co Kerry in southwest Ireland in a small coastal community. I am part of an active local group who with the cooperation of our council carry out regular litter picks in the surrounding countryside and we also maintain the village throughout the year. I am proud to say that our community looks so clean and tidy. its great for tourism but its nice for ourselves too. I would encourage community groups everywhere to approach your local council and put an arrangement in place where volunteers will pick litter and the council will remove full bags and pay for their disposal. Great video Sandy. But please always get the landowner permission as they might have a problem with deer and the stalker needs to know if anyone else is on the land. Just be careful

It is always best to seek permission I agree but there's not a chance of anyone stalking deer with a centre fire rifle in this woodland, the angles of fire from adjacent private land would mean the shooter is shooting towards public park land. In any case the chances of catching a stray bullet are so extremely rare. A good stalker will always know where his bullet will stop

@@WiltshireMan good point but there’s always someone who watches your videos who wouldn’t know these things there are a lot of townies who want to try what we do but have no understanding of how the countryside works and definitely no understanding of shooting. I just worry that there are a lot of videos encouraging people to get out there but on one explains the dangers. If I was more tech savvy I’d do a safety video.

I am very glad to see that your health has come back to the point of you being able to get back to what you love to do in the outdoors. It just shows that you can still enjoy an outdoors adventure and not have to spend the whole night out in order to do so. It is always a pretty good idea to scout out your camping possibilities before you head out fully loaded with camping gear and supplies. It is not always feasible to do this but a great idea if you do happen to have have the opportunity. The area that you chose looks pretty promising though so it was great to give it a look. I’ve often wondered whether one of your long handled Wasps(?), with a flat grind of some sort, might make a good ‘camp utility’ knife, but even if you did that I’d stand more chance of getting an Opinel 😂 ! Good to see you are using the Nova, it is a bit like the Land Rover of liquid fuel stoves. I use a a Quietstove burner attachment on mine. Although not cheap, it really reduces the noise level, fuel consumption and gives even more control to the burn rate.

It's amazing the quality meals you can make with a single burner stove. I loved that leather pouch with the seasoning in. Have to agree about people who leave their litter lying around rather than do the decent thing and pick the bloody stuff up and dispose of it properly. It's total disrespect and gives every wild camper a bad name.

Nice little scout camp sandy. Stove looks good but for me personally I just can’t seem to break free of my wonderful trangia 27 it’s so so versatile I can can cook anything with it. Meths. Gas. Amazing mind blowing thought that we're in the future and there's a flying camera filming you! Great video as usual! Food looked delicious too! Also good on ye for picking up litter, earlier this year I went to my favourite hammock spot to find it had been completely trashed, a 4 foot deep large hole dug and a bunch of smashed up cupboards and drinks cans and dog dirt, even a smashed bench, right where I usually hang. My heart sank! I couldn't carry it out as it was too much, must have been a huge operation to get it in there. .. Anyway I Have a very happy Xmas Sandy!

Your shelter reminds me of one of my favorite pitches called a Holden. I've always used an 8x10' tarp since I'm alone but I recently bought two 10x10' tarps. One has only 8 tieouts so I also bought a bag of 20 tarp clips. That should be enough to allow any pitch i want to use including the tarp tent, the Gunyah, adirondack etc..😊 My other new tarp has 19 tie outs. I figured since I'm due to marry soon I'd better do something, get a larger tarp. She likes to get frisky in the night woods. 😅

Great film as always Sandy, Blimey a couple of blasts from the past.. I so wish I could get hold of more of that M 84 camo mate.. Great seeing the LK35 getting a run out mate.. good skills on the Rubbish mate... You can't seem to go anywhere with out finding it sadly.. The pole getting rid of it If I remember rightly I sewed a webbing tab in the top of the shelter mate so it can be tied up to a branch or such the like and it will not need to e inside pole if you get the height just right.. Good to see you've got over the abcess problem Sandy and best of luck with the dental treatment. Shelter looks good, could you sew a loop to the top and use a ridgeline to avoid having to use the central pole? That Christmas dinner looked nice, well done. The problem with a hot tent on a non-permissive site is the amount of kit to shift if the landowner asks you to move on, especially in the dark.
