Sandy, a small rubber ball inside the foot, tied with a clove hitch around it could work as a tether point. The guy line could be supported on a Y stick and anchored to the ground with a peg. That might work to free your feet from the bivvy material.

“A good feeling about this camp” “I’m enjoying myself” just what a camp should be about Sandy,I keep saying it but it’s totally true, being out in the woods is medicine for the soul. I think camping out in the woods is a natural cycle of sleeping at the right time when nature and your body tell you when it’s time to sleep. Not been able to do it for years now but still remember the feelings. Another lovely video, thanks for sharing Sandy. 73’s

Fantastic to see the woodland so green & lush, not to mention seeing you in your natural habitat. Thats a proper Wiltshire man nest. Very cosy indeed. My HR team at work got the giggles with me when I said can I request a new winter overcoat now it’s June. They agreed to order me one as it’s been so chilly recently. I guess it’s all the geo engineering & cloud seeding done by the government making May cold wet & miserable. You’re looking well Sandy.

Hi Sandy. I'm feeling a bit down today and this video cheered me up. There were three stuff sacks, one containing the pole for the head, one large one for the tent and a third one, which I thought was for the pole for the foot box. I hope it's in the bottom of your pannier bag. The top of the cozy should fold back to enable you to eat your porride from the kettle without removing it from the cozy. All the best 🙂

Hi Sandy, I really enjoyed the video. In Australia we use swags, and I used to have a small, light weight canvas swag that the Ridge Raider bivvy reminds me of. It was hooped at the head end, and I think you'd be interested to know at the feet end it had a tiny 20cm aluminium tent pole that fitted into a o-ring hole at the top of the foot box area, if that makes sense. It created more room for the legs and feet. That bivvy looks great! Nothing better than getting out into the forest for a back to basics camp. Thanks for making and sharing your videos Sandy. They are really enjoyable to watch! 🙏👍🇦🇺
@WiltshireMan7 ай бұрын
Yes all makes sense to me Francis, I think the design of the Ridge raider changed a few years ago to incorporate a small support pole at the foot end, but mine doesn't seem to have anywhere to locate a pole. I may have to adapt something, shouldn't be too difficult

Hi Sandy, to make the bivvy bag foot box take shape instead of being flat you could buy 2 x Wild Sky Gear DCF cuben fibre tarp tent adhesive heavy duty 3M stick on tie outs. Stick the tie outs to the upper corner of the foot box on either side, after cleaning the area with alcohol. Then attach 2 x guy ropes to the tie outs and peg them out over 2 x notched sticks, about one foot high, half way along the guy rope. The stick on tie outs are about £10 each. Hope this helps ?

@willong10007 ай бұрын
Hello Sandy. Laudable generosity is exhibited by some of your viewers and subscribers! I hope Andrew will not mind my piling on with a bit of criticism of the bivi bag as I am including a suggestion for a workable fix that requires no cutting or stitching. As soon as I saw that shelter pitched, I thought the design lacked a method of erecting the footbox area. A loop at each side of the top surface at that end of the bag would facilitate guying out those corners either individually, or with a stick placed transversely through both loops and then guyed with a single line from its center point. Simple fabric loops add virtually nothing to the total weight of the shelter. Three or more added loops could also accommodate another support pole, which the manufacturer could either include with the shelter or offer as an optional accessory for those who don't mind carrying an additional support in their pack. As for the fix I mentioned, please consider using "Clip-on Tarp Pull Outs" offered by "Dutchware." The seller even has a short video demonstrating their use on his website.
@WiltshireMan7 ай бұрын
Thanks, Actually the bivi did work very well despite the fabric contacting my sleeping bag, only slight moisture at that point, but I maay try some clips later. The fabric loops and support poles that you mention would certainly do the job and not add much weight

@@WiltshireMan I slide my rucksack down to the foot end of my RR, once I've more or less emptied it (to lift the fabric up). The RR is nice and long and still leaves plenty of room for a 6ft guy. Maybe try the same with your panniers.
