Highly recommend the Gettysburg National Military Park. It has an area of 8 square miles and plenty of camp sites. I was there as a freshly minted star scout in 1963. At the time it was common for Boy Scouts to visit battlefields on their centennials. Can't see it all in two days, but you can see the most important sites. Professor Gary Galligher of the University of Virginia has a great KZbin series about the battle as an introduction for first time visitors.

There are various ways to get involved as a volunteer, which can be meaningful. Professional Scouting is an option but should be considered a calling rather than a means to achieve wealth. There is significant work to be done, and not all of it is compensated. The volunteer role has a direct impact on Scouts and Scouters also.
