I’m an old man from New Orleans and I grew up in the 1950s. All the kids I played with wanted to grow up and be cowboys. Not the Hollywood version on TV but the working kind of cowboy. Riding horses on the wide open prairie on a cattle drive sounded like a great life. Yes, I know it’s a hard life sometimes but anything worth doing has to come with a price. This video is at least as close as I can get now and I am grateful to settle for it. Thanks for sharing your video and letting me dream a little.

Fall is my favorite time of year to ride! Beautiful colors, cooler temps and less biting insects.

That was definitely a good color year in Colorado....But, 2021 fall was the best I've seen in my 67 years here. I've not hiked in that area - looks good. I mostly play in the northern San Juans - I'm from Montrose. Another great video - thanks for sharin!

I immediately recognized the dispersed camping area in the first scene before your video even showed the trail sign. You fellas have some fine looking horses! I'm not a horse person any more (grew up on them though) but my wife is with four of her own and she would love this kind of ride (well so would I too). I always wonder if the horses enjoy a trip like this as much as we do. Something tells me they do. I spend some time each summer fly fishing the Conejos and my plan for this (2020) summer is to backpack in to 2nd meadows for a few days of fly fishing. Thanks for the beautiful, spectacular Fall scenery and colors. I thoroughly enjoyed it! This video will help me plan and daydream about my summer visit to Colorado. Hope to see you on the Elk Creek Trail in 2020 should our plans coincide.

The only thing that would make it better would be to know that in that beautiful wilderness a few elusive grizzly bears still lived. The South San Juan's have plenty of room for a small number of grizzlies, and knowing they are there would make everything wilder. A few could be relocated from Wyoming or Montana.

Could have been a GREAT video BUT even when they had recorded beautiful natural sound of horses crossing a bridge or birds singing as the wind rustled the leaves in the trees it was ruined with unnecessary annoying guitar overdubs. WHY?
