Ill bet they are even smarter now !!!!! thanks for sharing with all of us.. very creative, helpful and most of all I enjoyed the laughter. thanks again ladies.

Thanks for the visual tips with sisal & the dimesion, too. It looks like you had some fun & made some shelter cats happy at the same time! Good Job!
@bloodydbunny9 жыл бұрын
you can also add glue(glue you use for wood) to the outside of the post so the rope stays in place better and cats wont easily pull it from the post(specially if u got stronger cats like i have)

Okay for kittens, but too short for full grown cats. Measure how high an adult cat can stretch; that's how tall post needs to be. I like how sisal rope, a natural material, was used to cover post. Sisal carpeting is also available. It teaches cats to scratch that material instead of rugs, etc. All cats can be taught to use scratching surfaces. Some prefer horizontal scratching surfaces. Scratching post can be laid on its side too. Thank you for helping animals!

Good video - but it would be really helpfulto know how much sisal rope is needed for a 2 foot post
@conniestreif37615 жыл бұрын
Rather than using glue for the rope, I just use a spray bottle filled with water & spray the rope. The rope will shrink as it dries & adhere to the tube.
@thechetjr8 жыл бұрын
Glue, you need glue. If you don't put glue on the post the whole wrap fails when the kitties cut the rope and the rope wrap falls off in a ropey looking jumble of unwrapped wrap. Thanks for a great video.

How much rope do I need
@Spoif9 жыл бұрын
Divide the height of the post (add a few cm to be safe) by the width of the sisal rope. That will give you the approximate number of turns required to fill the post. Pi (3.1415927) x (the post diameter + 1 piece of rope width) will give you the approximate rope required for one turn. Multiply the turns required by the amount of rope per turn for the approximate amount of rope required to fill the post. Remember that the wound rope is a spiral as opposed to series of concentric turns, so there is a little extra needed for each complete turn. Be a bit liberal with your measurements, it best to have a little extra than not enough. You will be probably be surprised at how much sisal rope is actually on a cat scratching post. If you go to a hardware store for the sisal rope you might end up paying a small fortune for it, so check out eBay for some good deals. Best wishes.

Not everything is a professional production. I'm guessing this wasn't meant to be seen as the definitive DIY cat scratching post video, but instead used for girl scouts, as in a fun video showing teamwork, projects, etc.
